... saw this episode when it aired back in '63 ... instantly became a life-long Cagney fan. I even sent him a letter addressed: James Cagney, Hollywood CA ... !!! PLEASE FOREWARD !!! ... He sent me back a postcard of a stock promotional photograph with his generic "photostatic" signiture on it. He offered a larger print, if I wanted, for a small amount of money ... ($.25 - $1.00 ???) I ordered one and got back an 8" X 10" black and white photo, personally signed by him ... "To Tommy, All good luck Jim Cagney". What can I say ? ... I was 10 years old.

Thanks for uploading this. I loved "Hollywood and the Stars" when I saw it when it came out in the early 60s and have thought of it often. I really the theme song. Sorry the top of the picture is cropped.

Old film documentaries always look like the clips were filmed off of a projection onto a bedsheet flapping in the wind.

There will be great actors in every era ,if they have the platform, but the sheer, vibrant dynamism of James Cagney is sorely absent in modern cinema...

Cagney's brother, William, became a movie producer, but you get to see him acting for awhile in the movie "Palooka", I would say to him, "I'm sorry, James, he may be bigger than you, but your brother just doesn't have the personality, the style like you do."

To see Edward G in a terrific movie with Orson Welles search for THE STRANGER. Watch the one at 1:34:41, from The Film Detective. Best quality on KZitem. He plays a cop searching for a Nazi. Brilliant!

Bent officials right at the top must have worked out how much illegal money they could make if they brought in prohibition. They can be no other reason for bringing in such a crazy unworkable law. Perhaps they even had Capone in as their advisor.
