Agree wholeheartedly. Good dots are expensive and if your guns aren't already milled, there's even more expense to make them ready (besides milling, good sights and potentially needing to source quality screws, as well as the ammo to learn and practice a new sighting system). Hate is one thing if you're speaking facts about actual quality or whatnot. But it means absolutely nothing of its based on anything other that quality really. Trijicon still won't even add a top load battery to the rmr. Something that's 100% obviously doable because the sro has a top load. Trijicon doesn't care about what you want as a consumer. Aimpoint made a shitty acro the first try, and now it seems like they're using the consumer as beta testers for the p2 because they will not fully release them. They're being released in very small numbers every month or so. And i just saw a post the other day on reddit with a p2 that was fogging from the inside. Aimpoint doesn't give a damn about the civilian consumer market. Just like trijicon, their bread and butter is govt contracts. And that's not going to change. 6:39 An optic that sits low in the gun is only better (regarding handguns). Sure, you may not ever felt you "needed" it but it does more than just allow co-witness with standard height sights. It also gives you a slighter bigger window (for same height), also gives you less height for the same window (less snag and better for CCW, less printing, etc...). It actually is a huge Pro despite the simple change.
@calholli
Жыл бұрын
It's virtually insignificant. You're splitting hairs over preference. If you take away the bias and just go off of objective advantage, it's not really changing anything. The best thing about it is that your irons already work as a co-witness and you don't have to get new one's. That to me is not a small thing, and make's the "lower mounting" very appealing and a nice bonus. But I already have a 509T mounted direct on a dedicated optic rail; and I actually prefer it even more, because of the clamp style mounting, just like a 1913 rail.. I never did jump on board the 'micro" pistol ban wagon.. but this thing (and/or EPS Carry), is really making me want to go ahead and grab one. Most likely a p365
@MrRolloBaggins
Жыл бұрын
For me, it's a big game of muscle memory.... When the optic is mounted lower, the dot comes up exactly where your irons would when u present your pistol on target. Whether using an optic or not, I can draw the same way same everything... And whether I'm using irons or an optic, it's shows it's self in my sight line every time. That's why I like lower mounted optics

@seanoneil277

I think that the desire for lower mounts, or co-witness w/o suppressor height sights, is so the folks who know irons can -- in their minds -- skip the RDS learning curve. They still have to learn to stop looking for the front sight post. They don't realize they aren't making it any easier, no matter what their "theory" might suggest. When all you do is index your eyes to the target and present the pistol with the dot in the way, it doesn't matter at what (reasonable) height the optic window sits. Funny how at the same time everyone wants to LARP with NV etc and raise their optics on their rifles, they are screaming to lower them on the pistol. So much rookiedom.
@stevailo
Жыл бұрын
@@seanoneil277 completely agree. The only reasonable argument to lower the optic is to co-witness standard-height irons, as higher front sights often mess up holster compatibility.

I like my eps. First one I got had a small crack on the left bottom corner of the back glass. Not right on the corner but a little offset. I didn’t notice it until I mounted it on my pistol. Also one of the screws was stripped so I had to use one I had. It was a bummer but I’ve only had good luck with Holosun and this was a very early one. Biggest problem was getting it replaced due to availability. Got my new one and everything worked great as all my other Holosun products have. Every company gets lemons every once in a while and I would assume Holosun produces a lot of optics. My new one functions as good as my other optics and wouldn’t let my first one turn me off of the eps. I like the size while getting an enclosed optic. Basically the same size as my 507, but lower and enclosed. Only thing to be aware of is finding the right one can be a bit confusing. Mostly due to the website that has it listed. Make sure you get the one you want (eps or eps carry).

In case you're somewhere earlier in the video and wondering the same thing: it's an Agency Arms "AOS" plate (although I don't yet see an option for the Holosun 'k' footprint on their site), specifically for their AOS slide cut. Side note: Aaron, if you're reading this, I realize beggars can't be choosers but some constructive criticism I have would be to add a quick overview in the beginning of these types of videos of the gun used to test the product and a disclosure of your relationship with the manufacturer of the product tested/reviewed. I think the “want it lower, want it lower“ thing isn’t because of presentation/comfort, sitting lower does let you use your oem/or not as high irons and cowitness. I also think a lot of that comes from the use of plates vs paying for a custom cut/milled slide. It seems you don’t care about back up/cowitness irons, but many, like myself do. And call me a whatever, but wont carry a rig, runnin a dot with out usable irons. To each their own. Also, and it’s is a thing, but a lower optic just “looks” better. When the v1 acro dropped, the only thing everyone even talked about was how bulky, dorky, and cumbersome it looked. That said, what a rad time to be into any mrd. The small issues or complaints of a while back are getting addressed, quality and durability are way way up vs yesteryears offerings, price is down, choice is up, battery life is up, nothing but positives all around and it benefits everyone. Great work Aaron. And happy learning/growing all.
