hehe - that guitar solo always surprises people who hear the song for the first time. They're not expecting it - they think it'll be the saxophone coming in again. Then - the guitar solo morphs & resolves back into the saxophone again. Its that transition from guitar to sax that gives people the goosebumps!

This was the 7" single / radio edit of the song. You should listen to full length version that is on the "City to City" album... lots more sax on the full-length version!!!

Great reaction! Granted, the sax, played masterfully by Raphael Ravenscroft, is iconic, but let's not forget about that killer guitar solo! Iconic sax, killer guitar, great lyrics and sung by the wonderfully smooth voice of Gerry Rafferty all combine to make this song a complete musical masterpiece!

Love "Baker Street" ... it's so great! Excellent guitar solo in addition. Another song with some tasty sax is Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat." Also: "Careless Whisper" by George Michael, "Smooth Operator" by Sade.

Thanks, Girl! This is one of my favorite songs... reminds me of driving down the lakefront in Milwaukee on a beautiful Friday afternoon, paycheck cashed - whole weekend and whole life ahead .... Freedom! lol (forgot that guitar solo, eh? lol) -- you may also know Gerry Rafferty as the lead singer in "Stealers Wheel" - the song "Stuck in the Middle with You"?

Artists from time to time are struck by lightning, that is what happened to the sax player here. The guitarist as well. This song is epic from start to finish.

Try reacting to Gerry Jeffers/Jeffery, because they really look and sound like Rafferty?! Singing "You'll get it right next time" or was it "You got it right last time?"

You should do a 6 pack of motorhead reactions. 1. Killed by death, live or album version, maybe both. 2. Damage case live 3. Overkill live 4. Whiplash (metallica cover) 5. Just 'cause ya got the power (don't mean ya got the right). 6. I ain't no nice guy with Ozzy Osbourne. If you do whiplash maybe do the Metallica version. first.
