Cheers m8! This video is an excellent and in-depth guide for anyone looking to integrate EUFY streaming and automation smoothly. The step-by-step instructions are clear, and I found the setup process to work as expected. The way everything was explained made the complexities of the system feel much more approachable, and the inclusion of various examples really helped clarify the finer details. For beginners, it would be a great benefit to actually expand created triggers / actions within the automations. I particularly appreciated the practical insights on managing streams, which have improved my EUFY setup significantly. Question: While the streaming and automation aspects work perfectly, I’ve encountered a small issue that applies to all my EUFY cams - not just the doorbell: to get the webrtc-card to show the actual stream after it's triggered by an automation or the play button on the card, I always have to click on the "error" or "RTC" status message on the top right of the card. Only then does the card update to show the live-stream properly. Any ideas on how to fix this or if I might be missing a setting somewhere? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I just checked and it works fine for me. The issue can happen if you do not have "Notification" turned on via the app. If you are using a Homebase, check the setting under each of the "modes" and make sure the Notification option is ticked. Also, if the Homebase is in "disarmed" mode no notification will be trigerred. Also ensure you have the latest versions of WebRTC and Go2RTC (for the doorbell).

AFAIK, the Eufy E340 Smart Doorbell is the ONLY doorbell that can take the place of your current doorbell button, use the same doorbell wiring, power, and chime, and you will never have to charge its batteries. It has been stated that the doorbell will NOT work unless it has an Internet connection. When set up with Home Assistant, do you still need to have an Internet connection for its smart features to work? I assume that when wired to the existing doorbell the doorbell will still ring without the Internet?
@TheHomeAutomationProject
2 күн бұрын
Unfortunately the integration relies on the Eufy mobile app account hence Internet is still required enabled on the doorbell. Since the doorbell connects to the Homebase locally through P2P, the chime will ring on the doorbell without internet as well. But we cannot run any automations which depend on the notifications from Eufy app to HA.

@@TheHomeAutomationProject Thank you. To me that means to store locally, safely, you need a hub of some kind, either the Eufy Homebase, chime, or something. If you are stuck having to do that, you want to pick a hub that can do all of your devices to keep things simple. If you need to buy that, you might as well buy something that doesn't lock you into a single vendor where they might not have the best of all worlds. Then you would prefer one that doesn't have a conflict of interest. That leaves you with Home Assistant and you would be helping to make it the defacto standard. The future is technologies such as matter and thread. By extension one could add that any other approach is the start of a bad habbit. Data has never been stored on any cloud. It is not possible. What is possible is storing information on a remote computer. Make that your own or someone you can trust and one that only you have the encryption key for. You can do your own geographically dispersed LAN with Tailscale or Headscale.

Yups, I agree. This was one of my earlier purchases when I was new to the world of home automation, of course :) I now have multiple cameras from different vendors but all with RTSP support which I directly integrate with a local Blue Iris setup and storing all footage into local HDD with 24X7 recording. These feeds are also integrated with Home Assistant and provide realtime event triggers. However, as I have mentioned, this was something I was stuck with and hence decided to automate. For my setup I am able to find value from it, but it is definitely not ideal option for someone starting fresh.

Toys our thanks for this fabulous work of popularization concerning home assistant and eufy. Is the use of Frigate (resource-intensive) essential to use automations with facial recognition? Or are you able to use only the eufy-sexurity-ws add-on module to produce automations with facial recognition? One last question that occupies my thoughts: do you know when you plan to produce another complementary video on facial recognition with eufy? We are passionate and in admiration for your work. Sincere congratulations,👍
@TheHomeAutomationProject

Thanks mate! Eufy doorbell actually has a very good "human" recognition on it and I have relied on it without any false positives till date. But none of the EUFY cams support "facial" recognition. I would recommend Frigate to do the facial recognition but it is really cpu intensive and you would need proper hardware to be able to do it, specifically a Coral TPU is recommended if you want really fast recognition. If you ask me for vast majority of use cases detecting a "person" vs other objects is good enough for most home security and automations, so unless you have a very specific use case I would not recommend going down the route of facial recognition. Re the video, I have a series planned on the hardware upgrade and subsequent Frigate tuning to set up the base h/w to be able to reliably use facial recognition. Those will be published over the next few weeks.

@@TheHomeAutomationProject Once again thank you for taking the time to answer me. I spotted a sensor in Eufy-security-ws called "sensor.doorbell_person_name", and I would like to be able to use it in a home assistant automation to trigger actions related to the person detected by Eufy. in my configuration, I cannot understand how this sensor is informed. I perhaps naively thought that it displayed the name of the person recognized in the Eufy application (Edge AI Service). Would you have any information to give me about this sensor "sensor.doorbell_person_name" and its use? Thank you for your feedback
@TheHomeAutomationProject

Ahh, that name thing only works with Homebase3 and is not perfect at the moment. Apparently due to the speed of "human" detection the AI on the homebase is not able to correctly identify the name of the person before it notifies and hence you will probably see the value as "unknown". But the speed at which AI is improving, I would say wait for a few months and you might see it working reliably (assuming you upgrade to Homebase 3). Reading some comments apparently you can get it to work on Homebase 3 by switching to "Most Efficiency"option for now. I can't test it since I have Eufy HB2 only. If you have HB3 and want to try it, here is the link to the name setup page in Eufy App: support.eufy.com/s/article/How-to-add-a-face-profile-to-Smart-Detection-of-S330-S300-eufyCam-System.

Is this integration limited to HomeBase 2 and above now? I have been trying multiple times to get my EufyCam2 Setup that has the original HomeBase to connect without success. The Addon when setup sees the HomeBase and the Door Bell (the original 2K Wired one). But when I add the Eufy Security Integration, the default IP does not come up 127.0.0.1, but 0.0.0.0, and when I attempt use the default is says integration done, but does not find any devices. Any clue what could be wrong? I have HA installed on a MiniPC and I have NabuCasa. Thank you!

Hey this looks like more of a network issue and it is possible that your router's firewall is blocking traffic from and to the devices. Can you check the IP addresses of the Eufy devices and that of your Home assistant - specifically the subnet (192.168.x) bit if it is same or different. If different you may have to log into your router and search for an option called "LAN access" and enable traffic across the two networks. Hope this helps.

It makes the integration a bit useless. What am I doing wrong? the devices show up.. I started the streaming succesfully the first time.. second, it seems unresponsive. I wonder what im missing.. Yes that is a common issue with the doorbell since it is hardwired to only stream for few sec / min at a time and is not like your normal camera which can stream 24/7. Hence, as a doorbell the best way to integrate is to start viewing only when motion detection happens as per the automations I have shown. If you want longer or continuous streaming then you will have to add a different camera (it can be non-eufy) and use Frigate NVR for that. I have that setup and when my doorbell detects the person or is ringing I trigger the overhead camera and record for longer duration.

The stream never plays on the dashboard when i press "play" on the custom card. Gave up after wasting several hours! I think they purposely made it so complicated so people would pay then for eufys own cloud solution .

Looks like this can be resolved by following the steps mentioned here: github.com/fuatakgun/eufy_security/issues/702. Here is the fix mentioned in that link: "Delete the WebRTC camera integration, then install the Go2RTC add-on. Then reinstall WebRTC Camera. I also had to go to the RTSP Simple Server Add-on and change the port from 8554 as I got a message that it was already in use. I then went to the Eufy Security: Configuration and changed the TCP port there to match. Everything working now."

Thanks! Ok so this is one of the most common errors encountered and is a bit hard to debug. There are 2 things that can be happening: have you created a separate account and are not using that account on the EUFY app itself (should be logged out)? Second is that for some reason when the stream stops or your card is not showing on the dashboard, the p2p stream in the background is continuing to run. I hope you have added all the automations I have mentioned in the video including the "delay" to start and the "stop" automation as well when the card is hidden.
