I did a nice 1/2 batch Nelson Sauvin lager with just DME and a little carapils and that tasted great. Great video. Cheers

I like brewing with dry malt, other than liquid malt, dry malt doesn't seem to have that extract twang in it. Nice video. Cheers

Great video thanks for sharing. I'm wondering why you would boil the dry ingredients that have already been produced from liquid wort that was boiled and dried. Bittering and aroma could have been added by boiling in water and adding separately. I wonder what would be the difference in beer quality with each option... just a thought.

Its better to boil hops with malt, without getting technical its helps the hop oils bond to the wort, also not everyone gets LDME prepackaged like that and it requires some for of sanitation. The other reason I did it was that I wasnt expecting much of this beer so I wanted to do the best available options with the very limited ingredients. Cheers mate!

I was thinking about trying DME instead of LME for one of my next brews, interesting to see how this tastes. Cheers

I can get it cheap in bulk at the home brew shop, but during the week I don't have a car to get there, so I just use what I get at the Supermarket or Dan Murphys.. And its only the second Extract brew I've done since January so I don't buy bulk any more, just when the missus goes shopping I grab the odd box now and then just for back up and times like this.

You have alot of equipment :D .. I only have few plastic fermenting buckets.. I see you used your for quiet a while? How long can I use a plastic bucket before it will start making smelly and bad beer?

That totally depends on how you treat it, I've used some for near on 10 years. Clean and sanitise! Cheers!

Shame it costs $8 now for 500g ldme, but at the end of the day You've shown us all that you can tailor make a brew with dme & if that's all someone has, they're set, cheers mate. p.s- shame the review / tasting got lost 😉

I don't remember where it would be or if it's been uploaded, I did do one. It was ok, it was better then most of the average pre-hopped coopers tins. I wasn't completely happy with the hops flavour, a different hop would fix that, but the beer itself was not bad, it was in no way an award winner as you would expect but it was a beer! The wife really liked it, it was one of her favourites. Was a little thin and plain for me. The experiment was definitely a success and worked fine. I have a heap of reviews I haven't posted, I just need to find where I put them! Cheers
