Despite the gloom of lockdown, when this came out Austin's life had just taken a huge upwards turn, so he must have been very cheerful. A few weeks after the band had come back from Europe, and everyone in Nashville had cleared up after a hurricane (including a member of the road crew whose roof blew right off), Austin invited his good friend Amberly to come up to his house for fishing. The rest, as they say, is history. Of course with lockdown there was no touring, so he was able to write more and start solo work, aided by the super-efficient woman who had fallen in love with him and who turned out to have a talent for videography. His good friend Stephen Martinez, musician, arranger and producer, who shared the house with him, was similarly able to spend time making music for Austin's channel. They re still business and musical partners. I only discovered the band about this time, from reactors that I often watched. Life was not easy as I was looking after my very sick mother, particularly in lockdown conditions. So these new friends, with such a fun back catalogue, really helped me a lot and gave me a new interest. I'm sure lots of other people have a similar story.

Adam is a HUGE D&D player. In fact he acts as Dungeon Master for a group that gets together at his place to play. No trying to imagine things there...he will have the full set up for you making it easier to imagine what is happening. Chance is a HUGE Star Wars fan as well. In the video "Brother" he gets to dress up as the Mandalorian and Adam gets to portray a mage from D&D. I liked the lockdown videos because you got little glimpses into their home lives. Made them a bit more relatable. If you love seeing the animals, you should check out their version of "When Will I Be Loved" Tim and Austin's pets make an appearance in that. Rob and Adam have pets but they were back at home when they did the video.

The guys were on tour in Europe when they announced the lockdown and all flights were being canceled, they were able to catch one of the last flights back to the U. S. They are big animal rights fans, check out their cover of When will I be loved, it's a cover a Linda Ronsadt song. You should do a back to back reaction to both songs, Tim's bass line is almost identical to the base line in the original. I've said it once and I'll keep saying it, these guys don't do covers, they do upgrades! Great reaction as always!

This was released in mid-April, 2020. The fact that Tim could come up with this parody on Billy Joel's Honesty AND get it filmed is amazing. It is fun enough without knowing the original, but the spot on parody is hilarious. Just like I did the first time I watched this, you missed the kitten coming out of the Amazon box.

I think this was their first quarantine era video; each of them were in their own homes. Adam was in his game room; he's the dungeon mast for his D&D group. The big white dog with Tim is Satchmo. He's gone on tour with the guys and shown up on stage a time or two. If you find the 2 videos for Songs That Didn't Make the Cut (same show, just different angles; watch both please) the camera facing left towards the stage catches Satch poking his nose under the back curtain. He's also in their great video BHH + WWTWWS (yes, that's the title). Tim is wearing his Dude outfit from their video This is How We Roll where they mimic the Big Lebowski storyline. Watch this video again and pay attention to the words at the bottom of the screen and how they follow the feelings in the song.

Adam is a huge Dungeons & Dragons fan and those are the characters I believe. (Chance is a Star Wars fan). I can’t remember if you’ve seen their video of Brother but Adam is a mage/wizard from the game D & D and Chance is the Mandolorian. Tim and his wife started to foster kitties during the pandemic and one of their cats is in the video Sunday Best. I discovered them during the pandemic and their songs just made me laugh and kept me going during that time. I think this came out in 2020 about the time I discovered them. I love this one. I heard Tim used the melody from Billy Joel’s Honesty and changed the words. So clever. Good reaction Jeremy!😘

I found these guys during the pandemic & they kept me sane & helped me deal with my anxiety. They always make me smile or lift my mood. Nice to see their fun quirky side. Enjoy Rob's whistling too. Did you see Adam's T shirt? It says Dungeons & Cats. They used the melody from Billy Joel's song "Honesty". And the intro with Rob's whistling is from Billy Joel's "The Stranger".

If I remember correctly, this was their first quarantine song. Go back and watch it again and follow the words on the screen. The followed the words on the bottom of the screen, like when they sang about staying six feet apart, the captions were spaced apart. It adds another bit of humor to the song. Home Free really did help me get through the early weeks of quarantine with their music. Another plus was that we got some great solo music, especially from Austin and Tim. I don't know if that would have happened if they remained on tour. BTW, they were in Europe when this hit and they had to rush home before flights were restricted. Their Home Away from Home #15 and 16 tell the story of what was happening to them in Europe at that time.

During quarantine, Tim and his wife Jenika fulfilled one of Jenika’s dreams-fostering kittens. The one in this video made its way across the rainbow bridge as still a tiny kitten. The other kitten they had, Lenny, is a full-grown cat and appears in at least two videos. In addition to Lenny and Satchmo, they have a new puppy named Daisy and she’s a cutie! As of the latest update, Lenny and Satchmo are still not too sure about Daisy.

Sometimes the worst of the lockdown seems soooo long ago but really wasn't. There's a candid pic, online, of Tim sound asleep on his sofa with that kitty on his stomach, zonked out. Cuteness! Tim's Satchmo is in a number of their vids, including 'When Will I Be Loved' and 'Sunday Best.' He's also sort of in 'Brothers in Arms' but not actually seen in the video. During the shoot, at times, he was sleeping at Chance's feet.

Believe it or not, I wasn't familiar with the words to Billy Joel's Honesty before I heard this song. I decided to look them up and was pleasantly surprised by how recognizable it would be to anyone who did know the song. I read somewhere that Tim wrote the alternate lyrics in some ridiculously short period of time - like 10 or 20 minutes. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I have that time frame wrong.) I'm glad you did this one before we got far enough away from lockdown that it wouldn't be appreciated as much.

I've been following HF since the Sing-Off (told my daughter after their first song, episode 1 - they're going to win it all). Saw them in concert with her pre-Covid, and during their first Canadian tour post-Covid with my hubby. To my knowledge this was their first lockdown video and had me in stitches! From that point on I waited excitedly almost every second Friday for a new video from Home, and they did not disappoint! LOVED Rob's whistling, and their parody of Billy Joel's "Honesty" - honestly, I can't remember how many family and friends I sent this video to, but everyone appreciated their good humour during a challenging time when there were still a lot of unknowns and craziness re hoarding TP, etc. going on. Adam does not sing solos very often, he has a small part in How Great Thou Art, but otherwise if he is singing it's usually doing BGV (often a higher tenor than Austin or Rob, but if needed he can cover bass - his vocal range may be as broad as Tim's). Loving your journey with Home Free - please keep them coming. ALSO, a group that I don't think you've discovered yet is Voctave - they are oft-missed when folks discuss a cappella, but they are true masters of their craft, not only vocally, but their dynamics and transitions IMHO surpass the other three (HF, VP and PTX, who are all amazing!) They are all professional singers (many work for Disney and not surprisingly do a lot of Disney songs and Broadway) but only come together on occasion to record. A few of their MUSTs that I would love to see your reaction to are: You Will Be Found (done during Covid lockdown) - your jaw will literally drop! The Prince of Egypt medley - currently audio only, but you won't care once you hear it. The Disney Princess medley - which features each of the ladies; and Disney Heroes and Villains, their newest video featuring the men.
