I grew up listening to John Denver's songs. Hundreds of artists have covered this song. But I feel Home Free took this one to another level for me. It is one of my favorite covers of this song. I love everything about it. It is a masterpiece. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group hands down.

I think what did it for me is that HF really hit that feeling of just longing for home. You kind of got that point with the original, but HF hit it out of the park!

@@NavyDoc5184Reactsspot on! This is what HF does. They make you feel. They are masters of conveying emotions. This is a masterpiece and I am absolutely certain that John Denver would approve of this cover (or imo upgrade) of his iconic song

Home Free is masterful at respecting an original while making it their own. I'm certain that John Denver would approve of this interpretation. Love your reaction. Don't stay away from Home Free for so long again!

Their latest “Playing with Fire” is an original song written by Austin. Rob kicks it off smooth, Austin brings the R&B 🔥, with Adam, Tim and Chance playing along like always.

I always loved the late John Denver and I think he'd be pleased that Home Free has brought one of his most iconic song to new generations. Of course the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are perfect - they always are! I think you'd also like their rendition of "Thank God I'm A Country Boy". BTW, 3 of them are song writers so there are lots of originals as well as covers. Thanks for playing this & your comments.

I believe with all my soul that John Denver would have LOVED ❤ the way these boys treated his iconic song. Country-Bluesy feel...just another one Home Free makes another winner....those harmonies are unbeatable.

A cover again so wonderfully good. I also liked John Denver's, but this version of Home Free surpasses the original. Yet they do maintain the respect for the song. Rob, who nailed it, with his beautiful lead combined with the others is great again. Adam who has swallowed another drum kit😉 finishes it off completely. In one word phenomenal👏❤

I love both John Denver's and Home Free's versions of this song, both bring a different feel which I like. I saw a live video recently from their concert in Morgantown, WV and this song was definitely a highlight. People were on their feet singing along (Home Free always encourages people to sing and dance at their concerts) and you could hear the emotion in everyone's voices.

I love this! Like you said they slowed it down and made it like a ballad, a love song. I agree wholeheartedly. Home Free took years to get the arrangement of this iconic song just right.

John Denver's version is obviously the It's really nice to see Chance smile--we don't get to see that too often. But I think he was happy (and maybe relieved?) his first video with his new group was going so well❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️. Chance's version with Peter Hollens is lovely and has a modern feel. But Home Free's version is still my family's favorite--hands down! Besides the unbelievable harmonies, getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is such a great treat ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️

Great reaction to this amazing upgrade by Home Free. For me this surpasses the original and is in my Top 5 Home Free songs. Pretty much everything they do becomes a new favourite, but I'd say the others in my (current) Top 5 would be: I Can't Outrun You (video concept and direction by Chance; phenomenal 5-part harmonies) Dreamer, LIVE at the Ryman feat. Texas Hill (an original, with Tim doing a fun intro of everyone - great harmonies and a wonderful collaboration) Brother (another super cover that is so much fun you'll have to watch it twice in your reaction; once for the hilarity and another for the music) Playing with Fire (one of their newest originals; it's ❤🔥with great harmonies, layering, runs, percussion - it has it all!) Home Free never disappoints!

Loved your reaction. I love this song by both John Denver and Home Free. I was born in West Virginia, grew up there. I retired and now live in NC. When I listen to this song and close my eyes, I remember my childhood, along with so many memories. Although I may not be there West Virginia will always be home.

Just stumbled upon your channel and really enjoyed this reaction, so I subscribed 😊 My mum loved John Denver and this was one of her favourite songs, so I grew up listening to the original and absolutely love it. This, however, is one of those HF upgrades that just hit you right in the feels! This is damn near perfection! On HF’s latest album, So Long Dixie, the title track is an original song written by Tim & Austin plus Chris Chatham and Adam Wakefield, and it gives me that same feeling of nostalgia and yearning. You should definitely put that on your to do list.
