Written by Bob Dylan and the lead singer of The Old Crow Medicine Show. 😊

First of all, this is a mash-up of two songs. It's not called a medley, because a medley features two-or-more FULL songs. A mash-up features two-or-more PARTS of songs, put together in ways that make use of the musicality and lyricality of both songs in a new way. - - - - - - - - - - "Wagon Wheel" -- The most widely-known version of the song was originally co-written by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor, the chorus was written by Dylan as a short tune, known as “Rock Me Mama.” Secor had a bootleg copy of “Rock Me Mama” and wrote the verses around the chorus to create one of the most definitive Americana songs of the 21st Century. There's more to what happened with Dylan's part in all of this, but that's the basics. As for Ketch's band (Old Crow Medicine Show), at the time, Ketch was the leader, then there were Critter Fuqua, Willie Watson, Kevin Hayes, Benny Gould, Kevin Ahearn, Jake Hascap, and Shani Abel. The band is still going, but the lineup now consists of Ketch Secor, Morgan Jahnig, Cory Younts, Mike Harris, Dante' Pope, and PJ George. "Song of the South" -- There's a lot of history to the group "Alabama," but the main info is: The group is comprised of a core group of cousins-Randy Owen (vocals, guitar), Teddy Gentry (vocals, bass), and Jeff Cook (guitar, fiddle)-from Fort Payne, Alabama. As for the song, Alabama was the fourth noteworthy act to record it. Bobby Bare, an artist known for recording cuts by "Song of the South" writer Bob McDill, recorded it first for his 1980 album Drunk & Crazy. A year later, "Act Naturally" songwriter Johnny Russell reached No. 57 on the country charts-Its highest placement before becoming one of Alabama's all-time greatest hits. The third and final pre-Alabama version teams Tom T. Hall with Earl Scruggs and appears on the 1982 album Storyteller and The Banjo Man. The three versions that predate Alabama's include an extra verse about a farming family's struggles that ends with "Mama she was old at 35." In a 2008 feature by CMT, McDill said he didn't mind Alabama skipping a verse because "I was very pliable" and he assumed the omitted verse was "too brutal" for an Alabama hit. - - - - - - - - - - SO...Home Free took those two songs, and mashed them up into a single song, because they already had some similarities, in several ways -- including their musical patterns. - - - - - - - - - - Lineup of the Home Free members at this point in time (when you check out the songs they have sung, if they are before 2016, then you know Chance isn't there, and the members were ( this listing is for the photo of them on the road at 1:14 ): Adam Rupp/beatboxer; Austin Brown/high tenor; Rob Lundquist/lead-low tenor; Chris Rupp/baritone; and Tim Foust/bass. - - - - - - - - - - Glad you had fun with it, even if you were somewhat confused. Don't worry...many people have been the same, before you. 😀

As to your question of where this song originated from, it's from the film O Brother Where Art Thou, sung by the fictional band The Soggy Bottom Boys. It's one of the ones that made the Coen Brothers legends in the film industry. If you haven't yet seen it, correct that mistake lol

Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, is on the left. The guy you didn't recognize in the other red plaid shirt is his brother, Chris Rupp, who (you're right) was replaced by Adam Chance in 2016. This is done in their older style with jazz-like chords, characteristic of Chris Rupp's arrangements.

Their singing, harmonies & beatboxing are always terrific. Another great mash-up is a live rendition "Oops + Thinkin' out loud/Let's Get it on": kzitem.info/news/bejne/0oF3nYGwgKp4ZHYsi=fHd3Zzgr70jQAYdK. From left to right: Adam Rupp, Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist, Chris Rupp, Tim Foust. Chris Rupp left in 2016- Adam Chance joined.

Adam Rupp is the beatboxer on the left. Yes, the balding man is Chris Rupp, Adam’s brother. Those two founded Home Free back in college. Chris left in 2016 and was replaced by Chance.

LoL. Good try. You'll have their names down in no time. Some find it difficult to recognize Chris without his hat. They really look so young in this one. Thanks for the Home Free reactions. I would like to suggest their songs " Yours" and "Woman Amen/Female ".

Love when Home Free does mashups of songs. These 2 songs are great together. Such a catchy & feel good tune. Makes you want to sing along with it. The guys did a great job as usual & love Adam's beatboxing & vocal percussion. He is one of the best out there.

This is one of my favorites. I like both Chris and Chance. But I’m so glad Chance joined them. He has such a beautiful voice. Besides Chris does great stuff with a couple bands that we would never have gotten to hear if he had stayed with home free. 💕🎶

You might try Darius Rucker’s version for a different slant on the song, young one, he sold a few copies.
