Bless your heart Sophia! I am enjoying your declutter series so much. I have to laugh, not at you but with you, when you get flustered at what you're finding and realizing on this journey! We're all in the same boat or have been in that boat at one time or another. Keep that great attitude of yours and keep up the good work girlfriend!!! I am enjoying seeing your progression of thought through these old videos.... I was just commenting to my husband on your multiple offices in the home and the comparison to some of my own behaviors (saving makeup past expiration, office locations, coupon stockpile, college notes, books, memorabilia, clothes that don't fit, etc etc) I feel a real kinship with your situation and the progress you show inspires me to keep at it. Thank you Sophia for sharing your journey. ❤️

Maybe we should start calling you Sophia the Brave! Your energy and focus continue to inspire me. I would have been afraid to open those binders, much less sort through them. We do tend to keep things that seem to make sense at the time, only to find out later that we had only made more work for ourselves back then and again now that we are reorganizing. You are not alone! My husband wishes you would stop these projects, though, because the more you do the more I do! Lol!

Watch out Sophia with the window cling cover - even with a net curtain, it may still be possible to see a certain amount with lights on after dark. Maybe you should get your husband to check from outside. Ultimately it will do the job in the day, but at night you may want hang a full curtain/blind. Oh, and don't know how you resolved the bubbles, (haven't watched more episodes yet), but I used a sharp pin then scraped inwards toward the tiny hole so the air escaped when I was on a similar project. Love watching your vids - you are so inspiring and we all need that when it comes to de-cluttering. I'm afraid girl it never really goes away - keep on top of it by chucking stuff immediately as well as a few items during your regular cleaning schedule.

I am really enjoying these videos Sophia. You are doing such an amazing job and the difference already is so dramatic. It can't be easy for you but I am willing to bet that it will give you a feeling of freedom when it is done. I am also tackling a room that I have been afraid to touch for years. I won't be doing any redecorating so my while my approach is very similar to yours I am doing one thing differently. I drew out a map of the closet, drawers and shelves in the room and allocated where everything is going to go and as I declutter I am making sure that I am not exceeding the space that I have allocated to that type of item. In many cases I am having to decide which of like items I want to keep more. For example If I had allocated space for two pillows and I find I have four, I then have to decide which two I am going to get rid of in order to fit the allocated space. BTW, I am also currently unemployed and am using this time to do things that will help to make my life easier and happier in the future. Love your videos and anxiously await new ones.

I was going through my scrapbooking mags and layout ideas papers at the same time as you were going through your papers. I didn't have as many to start with but I threw out all the scrapbooking mags (dated 2006 and 2007) and discarded all but 1/4 inch of layout ideas and those ideas are for the album I plan on doing next then I'll toss those. Like you said, I can always look on line if I need ideas.

Lizbetstyle I am just looking at it in terms of the time wasted putting those albums together, the space they take and the money spent between the actual magazine and the sleeves, I am starting to see it as not worth the effort. I have a 3 or 4 inch binder full of sheet protectors (these are the things you have a hundred and twenty off). My husband got a really good deal on them in bulk through his former employer. Hi Sophia, it's me again, here to cheer you on and give you two thumbs up for another inspiring vlog. At 18:20, you mentioned that there was some semblance of organizational systems at one point in time, and I'm glad you recognized and acknowledged that. I was going to write that as part of my comment, but you literally took the words from my mouth! I think it's important to come to that realization and see you really have it in you to be organized again, instead of organized chaos. Also, it goes without saying but I'll say it: yes, it did cost money to purchase those items, it might seem like a waste in retrospect, but don't get too hard on yourself. Pinterest was created relatively recently, far long after scrapbooking was "in". I do remember the Sandy Lion name (LOL). So it is a trip down memory lane of sorts, to remember how life used to be, what your interests were, and the fact that you did document it in those ways. If you decide to sell your camera, I thought it would be a cool thing to take a pic of it first, have it matted and framed, and placed in your new office space. The memory will capture (so to speak) your path and new journey. Lastly, you and Scott are creative types. I notice the pattern with creative people that they need to spread out their work in order to be productive because everything's right in front of them and not spending the time searching. It seems fine at first, but then the very habit ends up stifling the creativity and they move to another area in the home. This, too, has been my downfall and reason why my house is unorganized. I don't know if that makes sense, but it can't be a coincidence that it happened with you as well. Please do me a favour and visit Davids Tea website, browse through the flavours and let me know which ones you'd like to try. I will send you the samples of the ones I have so that you can take those well-deserved tea breaks! xoxo

Okay, when you were debating whether to keep the inspirational binders I was once again yelling "Keep them!" I am all for decluttering but I also am in favor of keeping some stuff just because you enjoy looking back through them or because of the sentimental value attached to a particular item. I am very pleased that for the past 45 years or so I have kept a box of letters from soldiers in Vietnam. Dear Abby ran an article just before Christmas of 1968, and she listed hundreds of addresses of soldiers, most of whom were in Vietnam and she asked if anyone would be willing to send them Christmas cards letting them know we were thinking of them and wishing them well. I sent probably 50 cards that Christmas of 1968 to soldiers and I got probably 35 cards or letters in return. Every time I would hear from one of the guys I would promptly answer that letter and gradually over the years they all stopped writing. I don't know if some of them were killed or not but I certainly would prefer to believe that they all just came back stateside and were having such a busy life that the girl in Nashville was forgotten, and I'm fine if that was the case. Anyhow, I kept every letter I received (even through 31 years of marriage because I had showed them to my husband, who was retired Navy and who himself had seen three tours in Vietnam. and he told me by all means to keep them) and my plan is to make a smash book of them real soon. I am delighted that I did not decide it was too much effort to move them the 20 or so times I have moved since I received them. To me they are solid gold! I am really looking forward to going through them and organizing them into a book.

Sophia, You are doing a great job and have me thinking about reorganizing everything! I think those plastic binder sleeves reproduce when we aren't looking. I remember purchasing one box of them and recently found another box. The crazy part is what I planned on doing with them. I have some digital 'how to' products that are stored on my computer in bright, beautiful color. Yet I somehow thought it would be brilliant to print out the various books, put them in plastic covers, and then put them in bright, colorful binders. What is wrong with me? ) Linda

Hi Sophia! First of all I have to say that your videos are fun to watch and I am getting motivated to make some progress myself. And I admire that you are not afraid to try a lot of new things (like DIY making). I have a lot of ideas but waste so much time in gathering informations how to do it right and worry for nothing. So your attitude really helps me see that is not always necessary to make things "correct". But on the other hand I have a hard time to see how you trash something that is perfectly usable - but not for you. Like the cabels in this video. It is really good to rid of the clutter and things you don´t need, but apart from things you can sell or donate you can use "give away" method online - FREECYCLE.ORG for example (not sure how is it in your location, I am from Czech Republic and I use different local website, but I am sure you can find something also). Or you can even try yard sale or yard give away day with those little things you have no use for.... You have a lot of stuff in your home that are "street finds" - why not to try pages like freecycle to get rid of some stuff you can´t sell and at the same time you can find here some stuff you can use - I have a bed (oak!) from pages like this or wood or tiles... just a suggestion as you have limited resources for renovating... Having said that thank you again for your time and efforts in making the videos I enjoy and keep up the good work :-) P.S.: Please excuse my English - still learning :-)

masokostni moucka I am planning on going to the salvage yard for scrap wood and maybe a glass door. I also hear that you can get color paint at the brand store that were returned because the people changed their mind on the color and brought it back, it s less than $5 a gallon. Selling stuff on ebay is something that I used to do a long time ago so I am pretty familiar with what's worth the effort of listing an item, which is not free, wrapping it (bubble wrap ain't free either), driving to the post office etc to ship it. when it s something with a value under $10 I just don t bother. My time is more valuable than the scrap change I will make off an item when considering the posting, wrapping and post office trips. Many times when I say "trash" in my videos, I also mean "donate" I have not thrown the bags out yet and will go over them again to see what I can bring to the goodwill.
@masokostnimoucka26

My Great Challenge :-) It is good to hear. Nice idea with the paint. I am really curious about the result! :-) As for the wrapping - a nice tip - stores are full of excess boxes, bubble wraps and so on - if I need some I just go to some store (in case of wraps I would try electronics) and ask an employee if I can get some and they are glad to give (less work with garbage for them). When we were moving all boxes we needed were from a bookstore and they were pretty happy to give :-) Ad unwanted things: In my case is more like trying to live as green as possible - to reuse what is reusable. So therefore I invest time and give it online but I admit it is work and not everyone wants or can do the same. Although I have to say my policy is not to post it - if someone wants it he/she have to come and get it personally. I live in the capital city so it is possible to do it this way. Freecycle is also all about local groups so just take a peek if it is worth a try in your case. Maybe not - not in every city is a good group and big enough. I have to say it is not like scrap change in case of webs I use - you can only take or only give if you like and you can get here really valuable stuff like furniture. It helped us a lot when we moved to an empty apartment and I am glad that now I can help others as well. But to donate to the Goodwill is very good way too and take less time I presume. In the place where you live are there any Goodwill shops where they sell donated things? We have another organizations here and I know that there is possible to give things like clothes and food etc to them so they can redistribute but also to give almost everything valuable to their little thrift shops to sell. Thank you for your reply and good luck with wood and paint hunting! P.S.: Can´t wait for the final result of this project! ;-)

My Great Challenge Forgot to say, I am not sure if it was understandable: pages like Freecycle.org are about give away or get unwanted stuff for free. No selling.

Hi Sophia! I put well loved recipes in those plastic sleeves. Then if they get spattered upon while in use they can be wiped off & preserved
