Who’s rocking wood slats and/or smart lights in your home theater?

I have 8 boxes of a different brand in a wider dimension that I'm planning on using around the lowered part of the ceiling. I'm in Houston, if my kids ever let me put it up you can check it out.

@hatoraidcowboy Yep! Takes me about 8 sessions to get through a video with all the kid interruptions... (3 days for a movie) lol. Im just getting to the part of this video about the lights you used and this helps me a TON. Also using Hue and Home Assistant, and have been looking for years on how to fix some of my light straps that don't diffuse well.

@Macroproxy LOL I dont have kids so I can’t relate to that life 🙃 Glad I could help! I wanted to share the lighting because it was frustrating trying to find the correct lights that I could integrate the way I wanted. Thank goodness for hone assistant!

@@hatoraidcowboy Have you tried any of the new remotes that Home Assistant is critical for? Like the Unfolded Circle remote? Really want to retire the Harmony.

Thanks brother! I havent done much with them yet. I’m gonna run them without any room correction for a few weeks so I can see how they sound naturally and then I’ll run REW and then Dirac.

I only have absorption and Vicoustic DC3 3D diffusers. Just finished a month-long project of measuring RT60, removing absorption, remeasuring, installing more Vicoustic DC3, measuring, rinse and repeat. Then I recalibrated once that was all done.
@hatoraidcowboy
Ай бұрын
Noice! How do you feel about the improvements with before and after?
@giotech4543
Ай бұрын
@@hatoraidcowboy I was not able to do blind ABX comparisons obviously, because changing out acoustic treatments cannot be done quickly. The RT60 measurements documented the changes as I went along. It's tough to say for sure though, because confirmation bias rules all. 😆 With all those caveats aside, the room seems livelier and I am hearing things I did not before.
@hatoraidcowboy
Ай бұрын
@giotech4543 I think acoustic treatment is one of the most underrated changes you can make to improve sound. Us enthusiasts know this, but still most people dont know the importance of it.

How do you integrate the lights with Kaleidescape? Does it work with home assistant? I thought K only worked lights with some Lutron versions
@hatoraidcowboy
Ай бұрын
There is a Kaleidescape plugin for Home Assistant. Once its in HA I can create automations based on the state of the player…turned…play….pause…off….etc. you can also expose it to Homekit as well.

Hey Jordan, I have a question for you. I got my Arcam hooked up and everything sounds really good however my back left atmos speaker started making a weird buzzing, pulsating sound. Do you think it is a bad cable or and electrical issue? I did some trouble shooting and I noticed that when it would stop when I put my hand on the rack. I actually leaned my rack back to see if anything wasn't connected and the noise stopped, but when I put it back down it started again.
@hatoraidcowboy

Hard to say but sounds like maybe that amp channel could be bad
@percybedford6266
Ай бұрын
@@hatoraidcowboy how can I test a bad amp channel? The amp I am using is new. It is the new OSD 5 channel amp. I am hoping it is a bad cable. It is more of buzz and it is annoying as hell.
@hatoraidcowboy

@percybedford6266 If its just buzzing its probably a ground loop. But never heard of pulsating. I had buzzing with all my speakers but when I went to xlr amplifiers it went away
@percybedford6266

@@hatoraidcowboy well I am using RCAs that are made with microphone wire. The same wire used to make XLRs. I never had any buzz or hum until now, and just started. I am starting to lean towards a bad cable because when I move or lean the rack it goes away.
