Pak da, & lop da (lop sau) slap strike, pull strike. It's a trapping drill from wingchun that is used in jkd.

According to Tommy Carruthers there is no trapping in late JKD. Bruce stopped using it altogether.

Tommy carruthers hasn't learned JKD in the loosest way, what he does is something crystallized almost entirely against what Bruce Lee wanted for JKD.

@user-qk6uv8fq5j also incorrect. He follows Bruce’s principles of daily decrease, simplicity and directness. Something pretty much every other supposed JKD instructor doesn’t do. Bruce was very clear about what he did. People focus too much on what he said and not what he did. This is why all other JKD guys cannot move or attain the same level of skill as Bruce. Tommy follows the same path as Bruce, he did wing chun, he did non classical gung fu from Jesse Glover, Bruce’s first student, and was close friends with Jesse for 20 years. He also learn from Ted Wong, Howard Williams and many other people who trained with Bruce along the way. He’s also knows judo, Japanese jujitsu, wrestling and boxing. He’s literally gone through the same process Bruce did and has continued to refine JKD following the very principles Bruce laid out. Out of all the JKD guys he’s the only one who ever even attainted similar skill and ability to Bruce. Everyone else looks muddled like they can’t pick between one style or the next. Classic concepts nonsense.

@@canaldospider4238 incorrect. He follows Bruce’s principles. Something more JKD people should actually be doing. JKD isn’t just a name and it isn’t just a philosophy either. You either get it or you don’t. You can quote Bruce all you want but until you actually LOOK at what he did and how he trained, you won’t ever attain similar skill or ability. And that means not staying stuck in the 60’s teaching things Bruce himself stopped practicing and teaching. That’s the problem with most JKD people. They are stuck in the past, teaching an outdated curriculum and not following the principles of daily decrease, simplicity and directness. JKD has footwork, stance, structure, body mechanics and principles that make it work and that’s the facts. “People fail to realize Bruce moved beyond technique. Once you understand the goal is to hit primary targets in the shortest time possible. All the fluff can be cut away. So you don't have to learn new techniques. You find better safer direct and indirect ways to attack these points. The rest of your time is spent training your body to refine this process.” John Paul Daily - JKD instructor
