Sometimes you just have to roll with it! Glad it turned out. I wonder if the pellet version will clear up as you go through the keg

Had my first homegrown harvest this year of real substance. Dryed out, I got 10 oz and used 6 of em in IPA/pale ale thingy. At first it was pretty bad but a month or two out it has aged to a beer that is quite clean and crisp. Cheers, and great vid!

Great video! I planted some hops this year but because I didn’t get the rhizomes until mid June I didn’t get a single cone, oh well maybe next year! Looking forward to another video! Cheers!

Any chance you ripped open a couple of your homegrown hops to actually view how much lupulin was in there? It's possible they weren't quite ripe enough and hadn't fully developed. Also, pellets are 90% of the hop (10% green material removed), hence the name "T-90 pellets". So you could technically use that ratio (0.9:1), but most people say it is close enough to 1:1.

Got to visit a local hop farm here in Florida this year. Have some good grow tips for next season I did not know about.

Haha! What great perseverance through adversity. Well done. I recently made a beer with wild hops and it is astonishing how crammed your hop spider ends up being. I reckon that your hops were probably too dry and old by the time you used them. That's why pellet hops are so crazy pungent because they're pelleted at the optimum time. I think it's always going to be hard to compete with that short of doing some risky business with wet hops.

Cool video, growing hops always interest me but I always figured pellets would just out perform since they are held up to some quality checks.

To prevent clogging during chilling and not use a small canister could you reuse your mash basket for hops? I have used this method in my Robobrew when using home grown hops. Cheers

I would think the pellet hops dissolved in the mesh tube, and the fresh hops do not dissolve. To me it looks like the mesh tubes didn't get fully submersed when you dropped them in (?). As fresh hops don't dissolve it leaves me to think that all of the fresh hops didn't get in contact with the beer. Some of the fresh hops would still be laying over the level of beer. Would that count for some of the differences between the two?

I kinda love getting the wrong malt sometimes. I asked for regular 2 row at a homebrew store and got a bag of Great western high color pale by accident. Made a killer westcoast ipa on its own. But it really shines in anything dark.

Did you add the same amount of fresh whole leaf hops and pellets? Cause it will definitely not get you the same amount of aroma and taste.

Have you ever fermented in a keg? I feel like you would make a really great video about that.

I really should do it. I honestly don't cause I don't have the space to temp control it fermenting in a keg, but I need to figure that out.
