as far as I know homeless people in Japan don't beg for food or money....they have their own means to survive like selling those cans in recycling centers....I think that guy is surprised to see these two people giving him food....that's why he told them he always has plenty of food to eat everyday....homeless people in Japan are quite different from homeless people from other parts of the world...they still don't want to burden to society...they can find ways to survive on their own without begging for help from others

Homelessness in Japan is different from homelessness in the USA in 3 major ways: (1) The USA has a hyper-individualistic culture, whereas in Japan people are raised to be considerate of others. (2) The USA has very bad mental health care - if you have mental illness, there is nowhere for you to go other than to live in the street. There are no "mental hospitals" in the US any more. In this way, the US has gone hundreds of years into the past. The famous/infamous Bethlehem Hospital in England, known as "Bedlam" would be a step-up from how the USA handles mental illness. (3) The USA has an absolutely stupendous drug problem. Marijuana is essentially legal now. Methamphetamine, opioids, crack cocaine, opiates, you name it, it's all as easy to get as buying a beer in the USA.

Regan did away with all of the mental health care facilities decades ago .. they were hoses or horror ... Most of them. Especially the children's hospitals... My God.... abuse on a level that is beyond criminal .... almost Nazi like.. it's true most homeless are mentally ill... And most self medicate seeking relief from their symptoms and discomfort... It is a viscous cycle that is now at another level with the economy people are working full time jobs sometimes two.... and they can't afford rent... JUST RENT.. THAT IS DOWNRIGHT CRIMINAL ...ITS A CRIME THAT YOU CAN NOT EVEN AFFORD A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD AFTER WORKING FULL TIME .... WTF HAPPENED??????

i love the way he ran like a kid getting his first toy haha, if im not mistaken, the reason Masami-san ran hastily after rummaging the trash cans is probably because Japan considered those acts as illegal, but hey its not always you see a Japanese breaking the law lol

@@bluestraight thks for the clarification, ya i thought it might be related to the law as i saw his demeanor when he took it haha, sometimes the law in Japan is very weird, here in my country if a homeless person wanted that kind of things we always allowed them, at least to deter them from doing something else like stealing, when survival is in question we'll never anticipate what length would they go for as it is forced upon them, on another note, i appreciate and wanted to say thanks for your documentary, i wish the best for them and you guys too in life

@@akaneru1935 there's so many cans Infront of apartment buildings but they put cameras and will report stolen cans, I think it's very mean, it's gonna get recycled anyways so why not let them sell it? It's not even worth much and cans will end up recycled anyways. Not to mention they pick up cans from the rovers and streets so they are basically cleaning the streets also.

First, I say ,, A Very big Thank to You and Your channel . You handle all these , different situations in very good manner . All the incidents are sad. Still ,Masami san's case become more Pathetic as He has lost all hopes and Just surviving or Living until the inevitable End Comes to him which is Common to all us. Saddest Part is his total isolation and Living at a very undesirable Conditions . Thanks again for Opening Eyes of all and Make the Society aware over Pathetic Situations of this World .
