Not sure how long that would last but it’s very smart thinking non the less!!!!! Cool to see what some people come up with!! 👍

I’m gonna try the same. Going to put a cheap bearing in place of the last nut though somehow so it rides better there. I like this concept though.

You inspired me to build my own but I made mine a different way hopefully mine will hold up better I used transmission parts out of old motors

How long did it last ? Run into any issues ?

Bout a year but it ended up not being centred and it wore out the seals by wobbling. I think if it were made more precisely you’d be alright

Why did you do that? It's cool, but I'm wondering why you felt the need to make it switchable

It's nice to be able to switch from 4x4 to 2 wheel drive, and so you can do some sick 2 wheel drive drifts aswell haha

@@zachwelker8862 to weld your front diff and have any success in the matter you'd have to have lock out hubs else wise your front end would destroy it's self over time from turning

@@MTD12HPTURBO I am thinking of doing this as apposed to buying the kit for $350. When you say "it lasted over a year" do you mean it failed mechanically on you? if so, what happened? what was the point of failure?

@@Orvis25 well the worst is the 12 point socket then leaving the threads in the nuts they would grind the square thing

Honestly you could have done this with a couple bearings in the sleeve so the shaft will free spin and stay 100% strait and not put wear on anything while disengaged. on the end of the shaft above the square so when it meets its not metal shaft on shaft but actually has something to cussion it so when it's locked together it doesn't grind it down. I think I'm going to do something very similar thanks for the inspiration!
