soooo, you created an whole arduino circuit and programming, when you could have just plugged the motor directly into the power supply?
@DIYGUYChris

It is possible to control speed and direction if you plug the motor directly to power supply! The opposite is right, I have printed that whole Jet Engine to test the circuit board 😉 The board is there since last year and this is the third tutorial about 🤟

I don't understand the need to use an Arduino to make a motor run. Not if it's about setting the speed. If there was a programmed function, I could understand that. An Arduino is completely unnecessary here, and 3 $1 components would serve more effectively as a voltage regulator. Also, in an age where anyone can buy a 3d printer and download print data from the internet, I wouldn't consider this creative these days. I understand the joy of something built, but think about it, where is the creativity, where is the joy of making things with your own hands? This was made by a 3d printer, not by hands. It's like buying a child's folding kit. Make something actually with your hands, with a saw, a drill, a milling machine, something that is unique, not pulled off the internet and bought in a store. Then you deserve respect for a job well done.

Thanks for the comment, obviously you didn't watched the previous videos about the board that I have made despite the fact that I mentioned this on my video and I put many links as references for the previous videos, I didn't made this board to run the Jet motor, the opposite is right, I have made the Jet to test the ability of Portenta to handle 36V DC and also to test if the Portenta will power on through the external power source. I also provided the appropriate documents related to the board schematic maybe this is not so important for you but certainly will be important for others who would try part of this project parts. About the 3D printed parts, the available model on the internet is not spinning (I'm the first guy who made this model truly spin) also about making things by my own hands! How this could be possible without using tools!! You already mentioned some tools like drilling and milling machines so let me tell you that nowadays a 3D printer is considered as a necessary tool for any prototyping stuff. Thanks

Using an expensive Arduino board to simulate the windmilling of a jet engine is certainly not aligned with good engineering practice and not worth a blog post. A $2 motor driver would certainly have been sufficient.

Totally understand your point, but the opposite of your point of view is right, it means that I built that Jet for Portenta, I wonder if you have watched my previous videos, the Throne board that I have made for Portenta is mainly developed to explore the High density connectors of the board. Please watch my previous videos about The Throne board and you will get the point. Thank you for your comment.

Hi, Great build! Quick question about Portenta. I actually saw your project listed under official Arduino website and I was hoping to find something that is relevant to Portenta's latest capabilities (AI, Dual core etc.) To probe you further on that - Is there is any reason why you used Portenta apart from the fact that it is the latest Arduino board? It looks like you can replace Portenta with an Arduino Uno and it will function exactly as Portenta in this project isn't it?

Yes it is, not even an Arduino, you can use a potentiometer to make the engine run. Check the previous videos to know why I designed this host board

Something is wrong during assembling most probaply. as your compressor stage is not rotating. This gives a lot of load to your motor.

Yes, I had that same idea but all the small brushed motors I found they are meant to spin a light weight, for big structure it has to have a big motor which will not fit. Thanks for the comment.

Probably a silly question, but have you tried testing if the turbine generates any significant thrust? It'd be really neat to see it move a wheeled platform, even if it was just a little bit. Overall, a really awesome build!
@DIYGUYChris
2 жыл бұрын
Hello, not a silly one, the Thrust depends on the motor gears and since this has been made through plastic material then we can't expect high strength of the mechanical structure. Thanks and all your questions are welcomed here.
