Great idea and great job making it become a usable and functional piece of your outdoor/survival kit. Thank you very much for sharing this with us. I think that I am going to try this and maybe even put a little black or silver paint on it to prevent rust. I am looking forward to a video that shows you using it. Take care my friend.

Great idea on attaching the lid! I got a bit of a chuckle at your 'hammer-anvil'. One of the most useful tools on my bench is a vice. In addition to holding stuff, they can also be used as an anvil, or have things clamped in them (such as your steel rod) to use as an anvils, as well.

It's like you said...as long as it is functional. Who would have ever thought about making a handle for a lid like that? Pure engineering and well thought out. I also like the strainer part. That my friend is some good thinking.

Really enjoyed watching the vid . I also tinker and modify things to improve functionality, had a similar project recently where i wanted a lid for my MSR titanium cup ,so i got a spare titan kettle lid , kept the lifter, cut to size but left 3 1/4 inch strips to fashion a clip on / off attachment this alleviated the need to bend over which is even tougher with titanium, so it rests flush with the top and looks pretty neat . Makes me wonder why no one seems to make lids for these pots ,mac

I would be glad to make that video for you but I don't have that brand of cup. The principle for making a lid for it would be the same as how I did this one. You just have to trace the outline of the lid on the metal and form it the same way I did mine ;-)) Some times a Tin Can lid makes a great cup lid :-)) and it's lighter too ;-)) Thanks for watching and also thanks for taking the time to comment. Take Care :-))
