How to make a working engine: Step 1: 3D print the parts Step 2: Replace literally every part with metal But seriously, this is impressive!

Yeah, I knew I was going to end up with a full metal engine, but I wouldn’t have been able to do it without 3-D printing. And there is some parts that can stay 3-D printed forever. 3-D printing was the prototyping, without it I don’t think I ever would’ve got this far. Thank you for watching!!

I can't wait for the homemade clutch and transmission ;)

Might have to, so I can put it on a go kart!! I’m not sure if this would be the engine powering it though, I think I would have my V twin power it. More power!!!

@@ProjectLMZ You could try it on a bike with just a centrifugal clutch, like puch mopeds before thinking of something as complex as a transmission. That way you can also help it with the pedals if it doesn't have enough power.

maby next a motorized bicycle with your engine?

I think I’m going to make a metal crank case, and then try to make a metal camshaft holder, even though I don’t think it will work, and then I will have a fully reliable metal engine. Then it can probably go on a bike!! or a small go kart!! Thank you for watching!!

Just one thing, that cable on the exhaust doesn't look ideal maybe find currently but in the future it definitely needs better cable solutions

Depending on valve timing your dynamic compression might still be pretty reasonable. Plus reducing the compression ratio should help reduce the heat and pressure to where things will last a lot longer. Very impressive!

It is looking absolutely amazing this thing. Just a few more parts made in metal and it'll run until something seizes I'd bet. The oil tho it a bit concerning, obviously it drinks oil through the rings a little tiny bit but I doubt it'd drink the all of it. There is a leak somewhere in the crankcase. the bench under the engine, all the wood looks wet.

It’s leaking through the side of the crank case, I need to put some red RTV there. As the crank case started to melt my bolt holding it together loosened, and it started leaking oil through the sides, where the crank case top and bottom meet.

have you thought about possibly adding a heatsink to the cylinder?
@ProjectLMZ

I think I’m going to wrap the cylinder in 1/4in copper pipe, and then add a water pump driven by the motor. I think that would work good for a liquid cooling system.

pcbway is the goat. idk why u shut it off when it gains more rpm, u should just lower the idle. what jets are you running rn and what are the needle and idle mixture screw settings?
@ProjectLMZ

If I don’t shut it off when it’s gaining RPMs like that, it’s going to blow itself up. It is way too out of balance. The carburetor is acting funny though, it only wants to run with almost full choke, but then when I give it full choke, it runs away. Thank you for watching!!

Love the videos man! When will you give it some throttle though? Is it just too unbalanced and or not running correctly?
@ProjectLMZ

It is too unbalanced, in the next video I think I’m going to overhaul the engine, and try to make it ready to be used on something like a go kart! I need to add some weight to the counterbalances, upgrade the camshaft holder, and make a new crank case out of metal! Thank you for watching!!
