Homemade garlic bread!
We wanted fresh baked bread for garlic bread. so we made some thick hearty bread. In the bread machine on the dough cycle. We included the mixing instructions for the stand mixer also.
1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
2 tbsp white sugar
2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
2 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp vegetable oil
3 cups white bread flour
1 tsp salt
Place the water into the bread pail.
Sprinkle the sugar then the yeast over the water; allow the yeast to start foaming
Add in the melted butter, oil, flour and salt.
Select dough cycle for 1 1/2 hrs then remove dough from bread machine and turn out dough on lightly floured surface and fold dough into a bakers sprayed prepared dough pan (9x5) cover with clean linen towel for 30 mins to 1 hr, allow dough to rise above the edge of the pan. Bake 350 degrees for about 30 mins, until bread sounds hollow when thumping bread. Bread will be golden brown and internal temp of 190 degrees when done. Remove from oven and allow bread to cool completely before slicing in a sawing motion with a serrated knife. This bread is delicious as a sandwich or garlic bread.
Dough mixer directions-
In the stand mixer bowl, add the water, sugar then yeast. Allow to rest for 5-10 minutes until foaming and bubbly
Add 1 cup of flour, then oil, butter and salt. Mix to combine with paddle attachment. When the dough is sticky, add the dough hook.
Add another cup of flour and mix to combine. With the mixer running add more flour, ½ cup at a time, until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. The dough should be smooth and elastic, and slightly stick to a clean finger, but not be overly sticky. Add a little more flour, if needed.
Continue to knead the dough: Mix the dough for 4-5 minutes on medium speed. Total amount of time, about 8-10 mins to mix.
Grease a large bowl with oil or butter and place the dough inside, turning to coat. Cover with a dish towel or plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 1/2 hours.
Spray a 9x5 bread pan generously with cooking spray on all sides.
Punch the dough down well to remove air bubbles. Roll dough into a long log and place into greased loaf pan.
Second rise: lay a linen towel over pans. Allow dough to rise again for about 30 minutes to one hour, or until risen about 1 inch above the loaf pans. Follow the baking directions above.
Garlic spread recipe-
1 stick butter- room temp
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp parmesan cheese
1 tsp dried parsley
3 tsp minced garlic
In a medium bowl, add all the ingredients after whipping the butter with hand held mixer
Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until combined and creamy. Taste and adjust to your preferences as desired. With offset spatula, slather the garlic butter unto the sliced bread and bake 350 degrees for 15-20 mins until golden brown and crusty. Serve immediately after slicing warm and delicious y'all!
