Zach, It is beginning to look real good. That switch/fuse box you had really had an antique look and would work well. Enjoyed the video keep up the good work. Sam

About 25 years ago a friend and I built a press along similar lines for his Blacksmith shop to press stuff. Mostly hot steel into a die of some sort. The open C frame style is really handy for that kind of work. A foot pedal is one of the first things we did after it was put in operation. Anyway I hope it works well for your intended application. Cheers

I like that press, good and sturdy. If you find your guage tends to stutter/bounce a lot once you get to putting it to work you might want to put that orfice back in there as it acts as a damper.

Thinking the standoff inside cylinder was there to keep piston from getting to low relative to the return(bottom ) fitting, causing the piston hang at full extension.

On your log splitter valve you should be able to turn down the return trip point pressure so it tripps off at lower pressure on the return.

Weld some nuts on the inside edges of the column and bolt a plate over the whole side to cover those hoses. You could also just run a rod down to a "dumb" pedal and leave the valve as is.
@TheZachLife

I think i might do that.

How on earth did you weld a seam that long directly to the cylinder without pulling the bore way out of round??

For your protection put a ban of steel around that cylinder flang since it is right at your face level.

I got a wood splitter that was rated 37 tons but was probably 35, depending on the pressure. Rated around 4K with a 5 inch cylinder you had to watch that thing. When it got fouled, things would fly. Your rig will be the same thing. Be careful and stay hid. A remote would be really good for a valve. I ran a 100 ton job but it had a remote but I still hid. Blessings

If ya decide you want a larger "deck" for convenient parts holding a couple of "wings" off the sides (since they're not under press load unless you wish is to then reinforce) can have holes or T-slots for milling machine table and other clamps which hold pretty much anything, including stuff you might not want your fingers next to the ram when pressing.

Very cool. Nice work- I like the adjustable 1”plates idea. Hydraulic injection is indeed something ya don’t want. I met a guy who had a it in his face, bc he kicked a hose the was attach to the backside of a well that was blowing out. It clogged with cuttings and drilling mud and blew up when he kicked it. It looks like someone flicked a handfull of ink on his face

A foot switch with good control resolution will make that thing perfect for what you want... The only thing I'd suggest (if it doesn't already exist in your design) is an ultimate relief loop just in case something should go wrong.
