HOMEMADE SOFT PRETZELS MADE EASY | DELICIOUS PRETZELS
Ingredients: Dough
1 cup warm milk 110° no hotter
1 packet yeast
3 Tablespoons brown sugar
2 Tablespoons melted butter
3 cups All purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
Finish:
1/3 cup baking soda
6 cups simmering hot water
2 Tablespoons melted butter for basting
Kosher Salt or Pretzel salt for topping on PRETZELS
Optional diced pickled Jalapenos and shredded cheddar cheese for dough if not making plain ones. Just pat the jalapenos dry and mix into the dough along with some shredded cheddar cheese.
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt. Mix well and set aside.
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and brown sugar in warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Pour the yeasted milk and melted butter into the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms. With a stand mixer and dough hook is best, until dough pulls from the sides of the bowl.
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the baking soda. Carefully drop each pretzel into the boiling water, boiling for 10 seconds on each side. Place the boiled pretzels onto the prepared baking sheet.
Baste the pretzels with mted butter and Sprinkle the pretzels with coarse salt and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let the pretzels cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy these soft and flavorful pretzels on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce!
