Good project. Just one question : Why do you use a hacksaw instead of your reciprocal saw.?

What glass did you use? I probably missed that part. Great build by the way.

Thanks for the tip on using the small tap and handle for the better feel .

This you will appreciate more when you shatter a tap/threadder and you havn't got a spare. It's just nice to know when your putting too many turns before backing off again. This can only be achieved with a smaller tap wrench I think. And I only use a battery drill when threading if the steel is under 2.5mm thick or the material is softer like copper/brass/alloy etc.

The oil you use is that used motor oil or are you using machining dill and tap oil?

Yes, I spent a couple of hrs 2years ago in my van and found a local car garage/auto shop. I had 15 x25ltr plastic containers with me and they told me to take as much old/used engine oil as I could take. I checked today before writing back and I still have 5 containers left. Now the oil must be a mixture of all petrol/gas/diesel engine oil and i've never experienced a fluctuation/difference in the burn/heat output or moisture issues.Apart from renovating my house many years ago I consider this heater my most useful build yet. But not in front of the missus!

That's a lot of work with the hacksaw

Typical UK weather, do all my grinding cutting outside but not when its raining. Don't mind giving it large with a hacksaw every now and then, plus when needed i can get closer to a mark with a hacksaw which means less filing/grinding to finish off.
