Very nice! I am just finishing up my conveyor and only NOW am I finding other peoples builds! I like how you attached the paddles to the chain, I never thought of that!

Nice build. Getting wood jammed under the "tail" drum is the bane of your existence when you're conveying wood. I used to cut a LOT of wood and I have spent the last 20 years trying to come up with a method to keep things out of the bottom of the conveyor and my quest for betterer designs is what led me to your video. What I plan on doing is to build a fairly similar design to yours but with 2 "scrapers" on the bottom. Both will be made of straw broom type material with the uppermost one having a height that just brushes the tops of the angle iron drag pieces. The second scraper will be spaced about 2 inches or so further back and it will brush the bottom of the trough. My experience was that a scraper that is flicked by the drag piece has a tendency to lift pieces of wood over the scraper and a pileup occurs. By having 2 spaced slightly apart the higher of the 2 stops all of the big pieces from being able to drop through and the one that brushes the bottom of the trough stops all the pieces that would pass through to block the tail/drive pulley.

Good job! Simple, effective, reasonably priced!

very slick, I'm planning on building something like this. just a thought for the place on the bottom where the paddle is high...maybe a thick piece of rubber (mud flap, car tire tread, etc) bolted to the steel just above the paddles. that would prevent Wood from getting jammed or sliding down under the paddle.

Hello again, just wondering if you might share your thoughts on a wood processor using a circular saw vs. chain saw. Also what is your reaction to having more functions mechanical vs hydraulic, I've worked in hydraulics for many years but do find components can be very expensive.

Ronald J I'm a fan of the circular saw mostly because they are low maintenance. they do cost quite a lot to set up initially, but I think they pay for themselves over time. I'm hoping to start on another processor soon and I may put a chainsaw on that one just because I want to build it. as far as hydraulic vs. machanical goes I can go either way. In this elevators case I was just trying to build it cheap, but it probably would have been simpler to build with hydraulics (for 2 or 3 times as much money). I don't think it would work any better though
