God used you this morning. I’m a homeschool mom of 5 and been homeschooling for 10 years. I’ve become exhausted and a bit discouraged lately. Thank you for the reminders and encouragement! I really needed that today!! Also, I like your ideas for future videos.

Hi Bessie! Thank you so much for saying that. It means everything me. Homeschooling is not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure! I think us homeschool moms need to stick together, encourage each other, and remind each other of why we are doing what we do. Wow, you’ve been homeschooling 5 kids for 10 years!? That is wonderful, and I can imagine exhausting! I know I’m ready for summer and I only have three kids. Your kids are so lucky to have a mom as dedicated as you are. If there is anything in particular that I can pray for you, I would be happy to. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day. God bless you! 🥰

Im really thinking about homeschooling my 10 year old. He actually asked ne to do it. Im a stay at gome mom, for health reasons. I am really intimidated that I wont be good at it. But what you said about your child, and listening to the teacher over you, my son has been doing that alot. It really bothers me that he tries to defend that his teacher knows better, Im getting concerned that Im letting someone else have so much control over guiding him. Maybe this is the reason I had to quit my job. Thank you for the videos. I'm trying to figure this all out, but gaining more confidence.

Hi! I think that a lack of confidence in our abilities as moms to homeschool our own kids is one of the biggest hurdles (and misconceptions) that most of us homeschool moms face. I know when I first started considering it, I thought there was no way that I could teach my children as well as teachers who went to school to teach various subjects, especially those that I was not strong in. I will tell you, though, that once we started homeschooling, I found that simply wasn’t true. For starters, there are so many open and go curriculums that you can pick from that take all of the guesswork out of what you are teaching. Some even come with videos explaining the subject matter. You can even opt for online programs that basically teach everything for you. I would be happy to give you some suggestions, if you are interested. Moreover, though, I have found that when it comes to teaching subjects (like math) that were never my favorite, I was able to relearn the material along with my kids and teach it to them in a way that makes more sense to both of us than the way my teachers taught me. Schools generally cater to one learning style and that is obviously not how we all think! What’s more, as a former teacher myself, I saw how much “learning” took place in the classroom that wasn’t what I wanted my kids to learn at all. New trends, social media, disruptive and disrespectful behaviors, and being put into various categories based on your learning style, and being taught to follow the crowd, just to name a few. You know and love your child better than anyone else and if homeschooling is on your heart, I think you are more than qualified to do it! I also think this is the perfect time to give it a try. Aside from the academic side of homeschooling, my daughters and I have such a strong bond because we spend so much time together and they don’t have other influences like their teachers and peers steering them away from their family. If your son is 10, you have this great little window to try it out and spend some quality time together before the teenage years start. Believe in yourself! God will give you everything that you need if it is His will for your family. I’m not saying that it isn’t challenging and there won’t be adjustments to be made, but it is so doable and so worth it!

Thank you so much for saying that, Lauren! Congratulations on your 3rd baby boy this year! I was a teacher before we homeschooled just like you. That played a big part in my wanting to homeschool my own kids. I hope you all have a great rest of your school year, if you haven’t finished already. God bless you and your family! 🥰

Wise words and choices you have made for your family. A worthwhile sacrifice! I didn't want to homeschool back in early 90's but year by year I was convinced and now I am so grateful for homeschooled grandchildren!

What curriculum do you use?
@heidievans2836

Hi! We have used so many over the years! We’ve used My Father’s World, The Good and the Beautiful, and Math U See. This year though, (which has been by far our favorite) we pieced together our own unit studies based on each of my kids interests and levels. I used a mix of teachers pay teachers, KZitem, unit studies from Etsy, Spectrum work books and lots of library books to do it. We did use Abeka for math, too. How about you? What do you use? I always love to hear what works and doesn’t work for people as far as curriculum goes.
