I agree with you 100% about the book reports! I love the book journal. That's a great idea!

Ah! All-of-a-Kind-Family! I read those as a kid, and I had forgotten the title, but I remember loving that series. I was disappointed that I had forgotten because I thought my daughter would enjoy them, so thank you!

Love your book club idea and appreciate your philosophy around book reports....what kid would prefer to share their opinion over a book report.

Thanks! I know book reports can be a little boring at times 😴 I'm sure I'll have her do one at some point lol.

@@MommaSchmoozeReviews Yes, in the Middle School age, where logic, critical thinking, philosophy/worldview, literature analysis becomes emphasized more is perfect for book reports. At the younger age, those informal conversations you suggest will pick up on those same topics sporadically. Your added discussion with them, helps kids understand the various ways to think about literature (you have to be taught how to think about books before you can do it for yourself). Secondly, when you look at the learning benchmarks of Core Knowledge for younger kids, it's about vocabulary acquisition, comprehension (tells story in sequence), describing characters or setting, comparing/contrasting the same story told by 2 different authors. These skills can easily be measured by conversations and a few preplanned questions. I appreciate your vlog, because I wouldn't have otherwise seen when book reports best fit in with overall learning goals. Thanks

Thank you 😁 so much! You are very kind! Definitely middle school will be a whole different playing field, I just hope my kids still have the same passion for books❤❤❤

I liked the first half of the secret zoo but once they started explaining everything I didn't like it anymore.

Exactly I thought it was too much detail, and I appreciate descriptive writing but that was a lot! Lol
