Monday 4/26/21...day two of a four day Ann Wilson project at Backstage studio in Nashville TN.
We are doing a couple old cover songs. I don’t want to spoil any surprises by mentioning any song names, but one of them is a very famous Univibe masterpiece about a certain “bridge” by a guy who used to be known for playing through Marshall 8x10” cabinets.....
Ann enlisted the help of dear Kenny Wayne Shepherd to come in and play some amazing guitar on this track.
I brought my original Univibe from home today for Kenny to use, but when he showed up at the studio today he had already brought two of his own original Univibes along with him of course....
Kenny is a fine guitar player and a very nice fella....and after he got done playing beautifully on the track, we couldn’t help ourselves from doing that thing that all guitar players just LOVE to do...a little comparison between the three original Univibes that were all sitting there in the studio at the same time....
why? because, well....how many times in life are you gonna have three old Univibes just sitting there waiting to be plugged in??
So...by God we plugged ‘em in... to my old ‘59 tweed 4x10 bassman... and sweet Zack (the studio second engineer) was kind enough to film the proceedings.
Hope you all enjoy this little demonstration of just how different every piece of old gear really is, even if it’s technically the “same” model
