I quit smoking, drinking, and drugs all at once in 86 after downing 2 fifths of Jack every day for several years, not a brag, just a fact. If you are struggling, it's because you don't really want to quit. If you mean it, no excuses, no blame, just own it and be sober. It really is your choice.🤙

Uncle Larry, you are the man. Watched the solo on "Always on my mind" at the 90th many times. You are the master of playing exactly what a song requires with an electric solid body guitar, with a subspecialty in the bridge pickup. And another thing-- many great players are especially good at fills, and little fillipios, and splashing color around a recording-- many others are particularly great with solos. Larry, you are the rare player who handles both with class and taste.

Love the commentary on allowing the guitar to play you. So relate to that. My brother had an old Strat (borrowed from a local folk artist who never played it - tragic!) running through a recently purchased Rockman one night in the 80s when I went over to his house. I played that guitar differently than anything I'd ever held that night. It freaked us both out a bit.. like what the heck just happened? It's why I own both a Les Paul and a James Tyler Classic (glorified strat, but a nice one) now. And why I wish I owned a Tele or a Gibson hollow body. They speak such different languages, all of them. Guitars have personalities for sure. Love those Les Pauls. My favorite if I had to pick would be the 2nd one you played, but honestly, they all sounded magnificent.

I'm the same way with all my different guitars. I've always attributed it to the fact of what I "associate" each guitar player they remind me of. Like with my Les Paul I want to be Paul Kossoff and instantly think of him when I pick up my Les Paul. When I pick up my 335 I instantly think of Clapton in Cream and can't hardly help myself from playing Crossroads. With my Strat I think Hendrix and SRV when I pick it up and when I pick up my Jimmy Page Tele I instantly just wanna start rocking out on it but also can't help but chicken pick as well. If I pick up any hollow body I just want to go straight to Wes Montgomery. That's just how it works for me.
