Welcome to our KZitem channel! Today, we're excited to share with you an important milestone in our journey with our baby calf and jersey cow. During the first week after our baby calf is born, we make sure to provide her with regular milking sessions in the morning and evening. This helps relieve the pressure and discomfort for our jersey cow. However, we don't completely empty her udders during these sessions. Instead, we milk her just enough to ensure she's not uncomfortably full, usually about 1 gallon each time.
But guess what? It's been 7 days now, and it's time to make a change! Today marks a special occasion as we're transitioning our milking routine. From now on, we'll only be milking our jersey cow in the mornings and allowing her to go without milking overnight. It's a cause for celebration because this means we're able to balance our time on the farm with other aspects of our life. Having our own family milk cow and implementing calf sharing has truly been a game-changer for us!
