Use a little bit of water to soften it up while you are drilling it down if it's that dry

I live in Texas and we have this rock hard red clay I built a fence using 10 in diameter poles for the cross members and it took for ever

I have similar ground, I have a cordless roto-hammer I cut and extended a narrower spade bit. Works pretty good to break up the earth so the auger can do its thing. I came up with that after many days of getting one or two posts set. I have felt your pain

Hope you might have access to a generator and 60 lb jackhammer. Its a life saver here in Texas for the dried clay, (which is like concrete) and rock.

stump blasting powder helps lol lol lol technically well placed charges would do it very well witness using to plant telephone pole for cabin that was off grid needed power poles set to get grid power
