Hey, thanks Mr. Hallsome. I did a liquid version of your soap for clothes washing some years back. Melted a 1/3 bar of grated hard milled soap, 4 cup borax, 4 cup washing soda in one gallon hot water, used a paint stirrer on an electric drill to mix It all up. After it cooled down I threw in another couple gallons cold water Made 2 1/2 gallons. You can also save all the nubs of bath soap bars that would get thrown away for the same purpose. We now do the dry version, but leave out the store boughten scent. Liquid or dry, you know what is in it and I like that! I read they bulk up the commercial stuff with all kinds of fillers and what all.

Yes i agree better to make your own, thanks for the tip but i think leaving in powder form is much easier.

We use soap nuts, also known as washnuts. From the Ritha tree (Sapindus mukorossi). Borax, et al must be mined and are not sustainable. I mention that since your info section mentioned sustainable farming. And you then know that few things are as sustainable as those that literally grow on trees. 😎

Can you buy wash nuts?

@@HallsomeFarm Yes. Search at Amazon for washnut or wash nut or Sapindus mukorossi. They are not cheap, but last a long time (you reuse nuts up to three times), so are in the end cost effective.

Dissolve Epsom salt and washing soda in water. Watch them make chalk. Or watch YT videos of kids doing it as a science project. Your dishwasher concoction contains no surfactants. It won’t dissolve grease and oil. Baking soda is s filler. Omit it. Vinegar doesn’t soften water. It’s cheap because it’s so dilute. It’s mostly cheap water softeners, a filler and scent, which is also a filler. You don’t understand these ingredients. Stick to farming!
