I'm having the same problem and I don't think they sent me the right bearing to replace it 😢

@@11GalleryATV haha. So I just put the outer race to the old bearing put it on top of the new bearing and the new bearing is like an 1/16th or 1/8in bigger

My Tusk kit didn’t come with a circlip. Do you need it?
@11GalleryATV
2 жыл бұрын
I would put one on there to be safe. You definitely don't want that bearing to come loose. They are less than $3.00. Here is a link to one (#11 in the diagram - 40mm circlip) - www.motosport.com/oem-parts/honda/2007/trx400ex/steering-shaft - or you can probably pick one up at any Honda dealer ... Tusk probably expects you to reuse the old one.

@@11GalleryATV thank you brotha. I would just reuse my old one, but I didn’t and still don’t see a stock one when I took the busted steering stem out.
@11GalleryATV

@@DirtStarMaster Maybe that's why the steering stem is busted - lol (I doubt it) ... but anyway, that circlip is supposed to be in there otherwise there is a little gap for the bearing to work itself out over time. It's been there from the beginning (1999). Here is the 1999 diagram and it's the same for all years - www.motosport.com/oem-parts/honda/1999/trx400ex/steering-shaft

Another good one buddy! How much do you think you spent on your 400 build?
@11GalleryATV
3 жыл бұрын
Way too much! I could have purchased 2 or 3 brand new ones for the money I spent on all these parts. OEM parts are expensive and add up quick! I probably spent 13-15 thousand and maybe even more (I haven't actually totaled it up but I'm working on it).

Yeah, I even had the Dremel in the video! I don't like using it for that kind of thing unless I have to, cause I always (sometimes anyway) screw things up. The big ass hammer method worked perfect and everything is still in tact!
