Great tutorial man! I'm getting ready to replace all my rotors and pads tomorrow. Going to beak in a new hydraulic jack I got as well so I'm pretty excited. Thanks!

@@RBTheMechanic . Just got everything done today. All rotors and pads. It was very exhausting. Other than a couple of stuck rotors I had no major problems. A couple of observations. 1) The front rotors didn't have the rotor screws in the center. I bought new ones and I can't get them to align with the holes. Is this normal or did I not align the rotors correctly? 2) Everything feels great while driving except that I have this noise coming from the front wheels. I think the metal clips are rubbing against the rotor so I'm going to inspect them when I get up tomorrow. 3) I noticed that the brake fluid pump is now full to the top after compressing the pistons back in place. Will the fluid level come back down eventually? Do I need to bleed the calipers even though I never opened them? Thanks for all the great videos and support!

@@MrSupernova111 well the aligning the hole might be no issues even if u didn’t put that small screw there if would have been fine ... yes the noise might be the hardware touching against the rotors check that out fix it should be good... the fluid suppose to come up to top level that’s normal and it stays there now as the brake pads wear it out will go down slowly over time Great job... 👍

@@RBTheMechanic . Hi RB, I went back today and inspected the front pads and rotors. Everything we discussed was correct. The new metal clips were a real pain so I had to flare out the corners to get the pads in smoothly. I think I bent them last night while struggling to get the new pads in the clips. This caused them to bend in the wrong place and rub against the rotor - problem solved. Regarding the screws for the front rotors the opening or the hole in the front rotors looks different than the rear rotors. That was confusing for me last night because the rotors have two sets of holes that look different. I used the second set of holes and got the screws in. Problem solved also! Lastly, I left the brake reservoir cap loose while I pumped the pistons last night and made a mess in the driveway - whoops! I'm going to try and clean it up today. Some sugggerstions for future videos on brakes and calipers. 1) Make sure the clips fit properly and the opening is wide enough for the pads - I wasted about an hour last night trying to push the pads into place. Also, make sure the metal cover on the backside isn't bent and touching the rotor as it will make noise while driving.. 2) Don't work at night with poor lighting. You'll make mistakes and the job will be much harder. Maybe recommend some trusted mechanic light products. 3) Maybe have a video on trusted products to clean messy drives with oil and grease stains. I'm really happy that I found your channel and I hope other people see these comments sub to your channel. Your videos and support have been amazing! Thank you very much again and I look forward to more of your videos!

That rotor screw is NOT a Phillips head. It’s a JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) #3. If you use a Phillips head you will most likely strip the screw and will have to drill the screw out.

Hello and thanks for the great videos! At around 9:15 in the video you put the bracket back on with the 17mm bolts. How do you torque the top screw without a torque wrench and socket? Do you use an open ended torque wrench? Thanks for the help!

Rb I see your other videos that you put some grease on the outside side of the new brakes but what about the rear ones I don’t see that you put any grease there

There was a U shaped pin you mentioned you forgot right as you were putting the piston on. I couldn't see where it installs at. Hopefully when i'm looking at all of it I can figure out where on that flimsy pad holder it goes. But otherwise a great vid thanks!

The way you remove the screw that holds the rotor is not the easiest way, all you have to do is put back the lug nut back on nearest to the screw and tighten it then simply remove the screw with zero effort, 100% guaranteed, also I’ve don’t many many 9th gen rear brakes and never have I had to remove the brake cable mounting screw in order to complete a brake job.

What's your experience with STOP TECH Rotors? .... also is it better to purchase break pads OEM or what you recommend ... to be used with stop tech Rotors
@RBTheMechanic
3 жыл бұрын
I have installed few which customers bring me usually I don’t use those because they do eat the brakes quick but they do have better performance and the rotors cool off faster. And brake pads I would check for some reviews dosent matter if u use OEM just try to find out the reviews before u purchase anything all depends on how fast they finish out

At the end you said that scaping noise is normal? But also said there should not be any scraping noise if you spin the rotor. Can you clarify what you mean between the two?
@RBTheMechanic
3 жыл бұрын
At the end it’s the pads that are touch but before that we were checking to see if the hardware kit touch or scrapes the noise u heat at the end when I turn it is ok and once ur brake pads brake in they get smooth
