You're making me late for work watching this video Daveeeee! But that's OK! Because I learned something new as always! (Didn't realize core shift runner to runner could be so bad!) Love the tutorial style videos. Even as a fellow machinist, your content is always delivered in a way that's easy to understand. I LOVE the fact you discuss guide clearance tolerances. And what happens when this is overlooked as is the case so often. Keep up the good work Sir! I gotta speed to work now 😅

lol sorry I made you late my dude. This head actually wasn't that bad on the core shift, some heads come in and have to almost port it by hand! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Traded or replaced camcaps from people buying and selling used heads for B-Series is pretty common. I had to in my first LSV build, but the machine shop did a great job getting everything in round with the cam journals with non original caps

it is probably one of the only heads you can get away with using another cap from a different head and it actually fits.

Those are some mighty nice Canadians. Really enjoy their channel. Are there circumstances where you would move the seat in on the valve and sacrifice some flow? SuperTech parts look so trick

They really are nice, genuine guys! On stock rebuilds I wouldn't care so much where the 45 is on the valve, but for performance always at the edge of the valve.

What do you charge for this service. My b series vtec head is at a machine shop now . Needed exhaust valve guides . Was gonna go with bronze but read they dont last long for a daily driver.

I do a lot of vintage Japanese motorcycle heads and I agree with you about bronze guides not lasting very long in daily ride. When you get in increased valve angles and rocker arms there is a lot of side load and bronze just doesn't hold up like iron. Modern bikes with included valve angle under 25 degrees bronze works OK.....generally.

We have never had a problem with bronze unless there was other issues in the geometry or the guide was sized wrong from the get go. Or if it’s on a ported head and they mow the guide down to the roof of the port. Daily or not, bronze is great. Many euro cars come with them. Don’t believe everything you read!

@@headgames It's not what I have read.....it's what I have done over 30 years. Yes....shallow angles work with bronze.....most of the time. I have watched a good friend change out 48 guides on a Ferrari secondary to to poor materials....it was warranty work but the Ferrari dealership did not own a Serdi etc. That was 15 years ago. I guess you folks don't deal with heavy valve angles and rocker arms.....you all look pretty young.😉😉😉 If you reduce the OAL you will have problems with iron or bronze.....I leave the length intact and taper the guides on a lathe. Bronze sheds heats better but Ampco 45 is impossible to get unless you order incredible amounts....the patent is owned by a Swiss company the last I knew. Everything used now is some nickel enhanced stuff. I also assume you hone your guides....no reaming.🙄
