2011-2015 Honda Civic Engine Oil and Oil Filter Change
If you have a maintenance minder A** or B** (i.e. B123), this is the engine oil and oil filter replacement DIY for it.
I used the Mobil 1 0W20 Advanced Fuel Economy Engine oil and the Honda OEM 15400-PLM-A02 Oil Filter
Tools:
Philips or flat head screw driver
17mm Socket wrench
If you need a 1/2 rachet for the socket
Oil filter wrench
Jack/Jackstands/Ramps
Funnel (this also works with the transmission if you put in the tube)
Drain pan
Materials:
Honda OEM oil filter Part # 15400-PLM-A02/15400-PLM-A01 or equivalent
3.9 US quarts or 3.7Litre Genuine Honda Motor Oil 0W20 or equivalent
Steps:
1.) Remove the dip stick and the engine oil filler cap so the oil will drain better
2.) Jack up the car and remove the cover plate with a screwdriver,
then remove the drain bolt with a 17mm wrench.
3.) Clean the drainbolt with a paper towel, then replace the crush washer with a new one
4.) Reinstall the drain bolt and tighten with a 17mm wrench
5.) Remove the old oil filter with an oil filter wrench
6.) Fill the new oil filter with oil, then use a finger to lubricate around the gasket
7.) Screw on the new oil filter and tighten with the oil filter wrench
8.) Use a clean rag or paper towel and clean up the oil drain bolt and oil filter area
9.) Use a funnel, fill up with 3.7-3.9quarts or 3.5-3.7Litre of 0w20 oil, I like to use the synthetic Mobil 1 0W20
10.) Remove the funnel and replace the oil filler cap
11.) Replace the cover plate, and then lower the car
12.) Check the oil level.
