Owned both. Personal opinion. The fn2 corners better. But ep3 felt more like a type r if that makes sense. More raw.

So you would recommend the ep3 over fn2? I’m looking at both on fb marketplace, and the fn2 is cheaper than the ep3 even tho it has fewer miles on it.. should i get the ep3 even tho its more expensive with more miles on it?

Agree, had both too. Fn2 chassis more refined, sharper steering, more feedback in the steering, more planted rear end. Ep3 steering was numb and torque steered alot, rear end could snap loose and catch you out if you weren't ready for it. Both offered fun driving experience

@@SR22VET-S15I’ve had ep3s and always hated the unrefined steering feel, however with lsd and poly bushes it did improve. I never knew the fn2 had better steering so might have to try that. I just can’t get over the looks of the fn2 and also the extra weight
@SR22VET-S15

@Bcturboswappedej-whppump the steering was definitely a downside for it, there were afew things that helped like you mentioned poly bushes and lsd, but there are other things like offset lca bushes with spherical bearing which gave it more castor, rack sliders, shortened tie rod all gave it a better steering feel. Still wasn't perfect though. Fn2 is a nice chassis it's a shame that it copped so much hate, looks kind of grow on you I used to hate the way they look but a nice set of wheels and coilovers does wonders for most cars, mugen wing and it squares off the rear nicely but again it's subjective. In terms of weight it it's also a downside but all is forgiven once you go for a drive, might I mention they're lazy as a stocker, they need the extra help of intake, header, catback and tune to wake them up due to the weight and also an lsd to help put the power down less you be relying on the oem vsa (traction control) it will just cut power and you won't go anywhere

@@SR22VET-S15 one of my ep3s also had dc5 hydraulic rack conversion which helped quite a bit but a very difficult and expensive job. I must agree fn2 in black with a Mugen wing doesn’t look bad at all but I just love the ep3s look, honestly over any other civic chassis. Another thing which I doubt the fn2 can replicate is the ep3s amazing lift off oversteer, one of the best of any Honda. Did the fn2 not come with an lsd? I thought at least the later ones did

Independent suspension helps considerably over bumpy and uneven roads, in hard cornering it can also prevent the rear wheel lifting off the ground which improves traction. In this case though the EP3 is over 100 kg lighter than the FN2, so of course it's more nimble, especially in slower corners. I have an FK8 and while impressive it does suffer a bit in slow corners, even on cup 2 tires that it's wearing now. The faster you go in corners the more grip, high speed corners almost nothing short of a Porsche GT4 or GT3 can keep up.

You say independent suspension can prevent the rear wheel lifting off the ground, but the ep3 is renouned for lifting it's inside rear wheel under heavy cornering.

And also lifting one wheel off the ground isnt something bad, it can make the outside wheels in the corner have better mecanical grip by increasing the load.

Oh look that glorious multilink suspension on the ep3 clearly gives it the upper hand, don't make me laugh :L fn2 has no problems keeping up in the bends

What most people don't realise is that the main job of the suspension is to keep optimal contact patch with the road at all times. The torsion beam on the FN2 does this without any issues. The downside of the torsion beam is that it can get unsettled on bumpy and uneven surfaces. But if the track is relatively smooth, there wont be any difference between the multi link and the torsion beam. The front suspension is a totally different story but.

@@abaj006 The ones who talks and say shit about torsion beams do not know both cars,and the suspension setup. FN2 factory geometry setup tend to understeer because of safety reasons. EP3 tends to oversteer. FN2 with a good geometry setup and some wise mods is a fun car and can keep and sometimes better than an EP3. Love both cars and the suspension setup and all the talk regarding is non sense,just drive the car and see how it feels.

@@ciobircaalexandru-lucian5885 A rear sway bar can easily minimise the understeer on the FN2. On the stiffer settings, it can become tail-end happy similar to the behaviour of the EP3. Even on stock suspension (nil mods), I had no problems keeping up with so many cars like the MX5, a 350hp S15, 600hp R34 GTR, and many others (on mountain runs, or anything that involves a lot of corners lol). I remember one particular arrogant WRX STI driver driving dangerously close behind me trying to race me on a mountain pass when I was out for a leisurely drive. I kept signalling him to just pass me and he wouldn't have it. After about 4 corners, I completely lost him from my rear view mirror and when I decided to go back to regular driving, he wasn't driving so close then. That was the main moment I realised that this FN2 is something special. Don't hate on it unless you actually start driving it, it's not any worse or better than the EP3. It's a pretty stupid hate war tbh, they're both excellent cars and they should not be underestimated just because they wear the badge of the Civic. They have the heart of a Type R. Plus it's more about the driver who can make their car go faster. A person who focuses on just the performance of their cars to beat others, should really consider improving the driving skills of their own person first.
