In the USA, we can still get a new 1996-present DR650 for around $7K or less. The aftermarket support for DRs is now huge too, and they're still more versatile than any of the scramblers...though they don't have EFI, ABS, a 6spd, modern aesthetics, or European availability. It's great to see mid-sized motos make a comeback in Western countries though, especially scramblers. Triumph, Royal Enfield, Benelli, Fantic, Honda, CCW, and others are all making some neat scramblers under 500lb curb now. The Fantic Caballero 500s and 700s look fantastic too. I'd like to see a sub-500lb curb CL750, with the new Transalp engine and suspension. Our highways can be long and fast in states like Texas or Montana. The modern 500-class scramblers should have plenty of giddyup for most of our Eastern states though.

Hi , interesting take thank you. Bikes like the DR Suzuki were fazed out in Europe because of their inability to pass emission standards of course ... you're lucky to still be able to buy them. These new "Scramblers" are a scrambler in name only , more a styling exercise although some do have a little off-road ability. I am totally with you on a CL 750 !! that would be a great bike and I'd have one without a second thought. I have heard no concrete news of such a bike though but there is no doubt it would be hugely popular. Thanks for watching ...👍

@@WyreForestBiker As long as the motor is willing and the frame is strong enough, these new scramblers should be fine for offroading. The original scramblers were just standard streetbikes that were modified to travel offroad, and the modern scramblers are already partway there, with dirt pegs, dirt bars, more travel/clearance, high exhaust, etc. They're closer than those old standard streetbikes were, anyway, and not everybody rides dirt like they're trying to win the Dakar. Install a skidplate, swap on some road-legal knobbies, and shave some weight...voila! They're good enough for mild/moderate trails. They're not going to be thumper dualsports on dirt, but they should be practical and FUN for many riders of many different skill levels. Personally, I really like the scrambler aesthetic, with knobbies, especially on the Fantics and the Triumphs. I haven't seen a Honda with knobs yet though.

I will be looking for my first ‘big’ motorbike after having 125cc at the end of the year and this is top of the list so far, just for weekend rides, the triumph street twin, kawasaki w800, re interceptor were on the list but this one looks not overly powerful especially coming from a 125, but powerful enough if i need to overtake etc
@WyreForestBiker
Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes the CL will feel very lively after a 125 and powerful enough to keep you entertained. The W800 and Interceptor have the same power output but both are heavier and less nimble , as is the Street Twin although the Triumph is considerably more powerful . As always try before you buy! ... thanks for watching👍

@@zefautino That's true. With your bike being so off-road biased it sort of demands to be ridden in the way it was intended anyway It's built for it and the value will not be seriously effected by a few bumps and scrapes ... not quite the same with the CL. many of which will never leave the tarmac. 👍

You asked why scoot boys don't nod. I think most scoot boys are only using a scoot because it was the most convenient option and they have no joy in doing so, so the feeling of motorbike boy comradery isn't there for them :p..

@@WyreForestBiker its the extra hp thats attracting me to the Hornet. i currently have a Yamaha Thunderace. a great bike and stupidly fast, but just too cumbersome at slow speeds. im wanting something light and nimble with a low seat height now, so that i no longer have to worry about tight turns and rough road surfaces and the two Hondas look ideal. i have enjoyed watching your videos and hearing your opinion. good luck with the bike and the channel.
@WyreForestBiker
Жыл бұрын
@@jasonjason7277 Thanks Jason , In my opinion the Hornet will feel much more lively than the Thunderace due to it''s superior torque which makes it more responsive at lower rev's. It does have a low seat height and feel quite light but of course the CL500 is even more nimble and easy to manoeuvre particularly at low speeds. the Yamaha is the type of bike you have to rev hard to get moving quickly as are most straight 4's but could easily out-perform the CL when opened up . Tell me how you get on ...Thanks for watching👍
