Great review. As I have had one for a couple of years in this spec, I concur with all your findings. Great car and so under the radar.

Spoke to Tom at BMC. What a nice fella. Very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I need to get a car before the weekend, but if I didn't, I would ask this guy to source me one of these and travel the 150 miles for it.

What a great, honest, review. Thank you for sharing. I've heard that the crv can be a battery muncher, have these issues been ironed out? Also, are the headlights any good at night?

tbh we haven't replaced that many batteries on these cars. Usually after about 5-7 years they have one but they have not been noticeably worse or better than any other Honda. The lights are fine at night. I haven't really gauged it but it has not crossed my mind that they should be better !

I found that on mine, I could stop the rear seat back rattle by clicking the backrest into the 2nd, more reclined position. When you fold up the rear seats after having them flat, the upright usually locks in the first position. Lifting the backrest release button, and pushing the backrest back into the 2nd position cures it, for me. There's only a couple of inches difference in seat angle between the two. Mine is the older 2.2 diesel, which I am changing for the 1.6 160bhp 9-speed auto, this week. I am really looking forward to picking it up. It's a one owner from new, with full Honda service history, and absolutely immaculate. It may have 70,000, miles, but that's nothing to a Honda. The Honda dealer is giving it a full service, including changing the ATF fluid (£894!!), and flusing and replacing the diff oil, ensuring many more miles of trouble free motoring ahead. Watching your review is only making me more impatient to get my hands on it!

Quick question. If you could choose between the 1.6 and 2.2 (I see you've done both reviews!); which one would you opt for? Cheers!

I have a 1.6 twin turbo crv. But I prefer the sound and smoothness of the 2.2 plus the fact it pulls from lower revs more easily

Just as a general rule of thumb I have always been a petrol user I worry bout egr valves particulate filters and the usual diesel woes one hears of , but I’m good to keep up with routine servicing and not hard on a car I’d be hoping to get at least 3 years use from crv also I’d love to hear your thoughts on the e ?

@@conorhanley9009 in a similar situation too, petrol will always win on reliability especially Hondas.. but I do prefer the relaxed nature and torque of a td.. the single turbo 120 dtec still has much more torque than the 2.0 petrol and the 160dtec has even more.. ideally the 160dtec would be my choice but I’m aware of diesel woes.. can’t win!!
