The days of the mechanic are coming to an end. That law started in California and now it’s in several states. I think most states will have a majority of electric vehicles on the road by 2030 and those don’t need nearly as much maintenance as fossil fuel vehicles. That’s going to be a whole industry of mechanics out of work. Pretty scary stuff. Just my opinion.

@@ryanalexander984 Take a look at Tesla service centers. They're not empty. Plenty of work needs to be done on electric vehicles it's just different kinds of work. And it's going to be probably 20 years before a gasoline cars are completely off the road. It's a hell of a lot of people that buy $5,000 used cars. And it's going to be a long time until I used Tesla Model 3s cost 5 grand. Until then there's going to be a need to keep older ice vehicles on the road. Also keep in mind these laws are talking about only ban new car sales. Some also ban the purchase of used and then importation into the state. All that's going to do is raise the value of used cars. And mechanics will be able to charge more to keep them on the road. Leave it to government to screw over the people that can least afford to be screwed over. That's what their best at.

Eric O., Law of Gravity? Not a law. Sir Isaac Newton's The Universal Law of Gravitation. Not a law. These are described as "laws" to grade school children, it's the simplest explanation that's easily remembered. Einstein disproved Newton's Law of Gravity Einstein looked at space and time and saw a single dynamic stage - spacetime - on which matter and energy strutted, generating sound and fury, signifying gravity. Gravity made the universe go ’round. Einstein argued that gravity isn't a force at all. He described it as a curvature of time and space caused by mass and energy. Einstein's 1915 theory of general relativity - a theory, which hasn't ever been proved completely. Not a law. BTW there are also Gravitational Waves -- That's a really long explanation. Last year I had to replace my 10 year old Ford Escape with 160k on it due to an unfortunate encounter with a deer. There was no rust or corrosion under the vehicle despite the 10 winters it went through here. PRNY, LOL! It's funny because it's true. Had a friend with a blown head gasket. Guess what happened to the cat on that one...

The CARB certified converter is just the federal converter that the company submitted to CARB and get their hokey pokey blessing and the company can charge more for it

I would imagine the exhaust flow out the end is significantly low which can be determined by putting your hand over the exhaust pipe exit. Not related, but I have a 1997 GMC Sonoma with the Vortec V6 with a K&N air filter with just over 237,000 miles on it. Every so often I have to clean the MAFS and the throttle body and butterfly because of the oil from the air filter getting sucked into the intake. When the engine is cold it idles about 100 rpms higher but not affected much when it's at operating temperature. I wonder if cutting open the converter, you'll be able to tell why it's clogged whether from oil or just collapsed from age.

The oil in those filters is why I cannot use one. I have a VW. Their MAFs are so touchy and expensive. The K&N oil coats, then burns them out super fast. I had one on my 1979 Olds.. Made it a bit stronger, and made it so you could HEAR it suck up all your gas into the 4 barrel carb.

Even being from Cleveland, it still amazes me how so many of the cars that come in look EXACTLY like the footage of the Titanic after being underwater for almost a century.

I had one of my back wheel bearings changed on my 05 CR-V about 3 weeks ago and the ABS in the VSC light came on . It went about off 3 or 4 days later . I had the other one done on Monday and the ABS and VSA light came back on except this time it won't go off I took it back to the garage and he put it on the scanner any told me that both of my ABS sensors had to be changed . Does that sound normal .

Rank amateur here just curious about something. If I thought the cat was plugged before I started drilling into it I would just pull it off and look. But I live down in Georgia where we don't have rust. Is the reason you don't pull it because it would be a much bigger pain due to rusted nuts, bolts, studs etc?

Immodium is for when you've got the runs.... don't take it unless you've had to make several bathroom trips, though. If you take it when all you've got is an upset tummy rather than something more serious, you won't poop for days.

Can I come by and get my blinker fluid checked? I need to have the uballs and the muffler bearings greased also. Oh and change the air in the tires from summer to winter air. Another thing is I connected a test light to the shock absorbers but I didn't get any shock. Is that normal for them to absorb all the shock? Someone told me that I need to have my tires rotated, but they rotate every time I drive it. When I put the car in R for race, it goes backwards. Also the belt is squealing. I tried to tighten it but I couldn't find the belt buckle. It will take me awhile to get there because I'm on the other side of the world. I'm currently building a raft.

Watched the converter diagnostic. I didn't understand what was going on. Later on I went for a hike and ran into this girl, said her name was golden locks or something with honey in her hair and a cell phone in her pouch. She told me she was subed with SMA too and had a similar problem not to long ago. I understand now. I had had it backwards.
