I don't know anything about the DCT, but I do know Honda made the best hydrostatic transmissions on earth. Nothing can beat them. They went from expensive transmissions to cheap ones in my opinion.

Most motorcycle riders have narcissistic problems tied up with their childlike fantasies about being the world's greatest motogp rider. In other words, they are sociopaths and delusional. Their obsession with a clutch and a manually operated gearbox are tantamount to a form of tourette syndrome. These riders behave like old biddies terrified of technological change. So frightened are they about the possibility of sane riders choosing automated torque transfer technologies, that they hysterically attack the technology; the DCT owners; and Honda for the crime of bringing the greatest advance in motorcycle inovation to the marketplace in over one hundred years. Congratulations to Honda in forcing a revolutionary design onto the backward-looking motorcycle community. The brilliant Honda DCT may yet save motorcycles from disappearing from the social landscape.

Charles they do get a bit cranky. But I think it is part fear of the unknown. They want to ride in a wreckless manner for fun. A safe motorcycle which is smarter than they are is a threat to their ego.

Very nice film! Very nice engine and clutch combination. Also much thank Honda for producing such more environmental friendly motorbikes. The people who like threatening acceleration on public roads for fun or "excitement" should really reconsider it and change the style and behavior so to save our planet a little bit (or at least destroy it slower).

sir one doubt ,what happens when at high speed clutch A shifts automatically from 5th gear to 3rd gear in automatic mode
@Chrisjude100
7 жыл бұрын
Doesn't happen (at least hasn't to me after 4 and a half years on an Integra 700). It drops a gear if you hit an incline and, again if it's very steep. But no jolting downshifts. It is IT controlled, I believe. The time between shifts depends on whether you are in Drive or Sports mode. Personally, I began in Drive, but it only really works on undulating long-hauls like, maybe, some US Interstates. Otherwise Sports in town is good and if you are on a European motorway you're in 6th geat until you take an exit and the gears drop nicely as you reduce speed. I have been all over Europe on it and found it to be exactly what I wanted when I was younger (not interested in adrenaline rushes, just seeing interesting places).

Since odd gears are on one shaft and clutch and even number gears are on the other, that couldn't happen. The clutches alternate between the two shafts and shifting is sequential. I am perfectly happy with a traditional manual, but see no problems physically with DCT.

I just bought an NC750 DCT initially ir feels weird not shifting, but it ability to be in the right gear is smooth and almost flawless, in many cases better that my shifting would be. It's a vert nice bike.

What about the "clutch grey zone"? How do I ride extreme low speeds with those automatic buttons? Furthermore, shifting gears is the one of the best parts of motorcycle riding. The next "engineering brake through" I believe will be loading the route into moto computer and put your hands wherever you want and let the machine drive you to the destination. So boring!
@cagednm69

You can ride it at extreme slow speeds because the DCT won't stall ever. Its that simple. No need of buttons the system detects your speed and shifts to lowest of gears as possible. No need to feather the clutch and there is no clutch grey zone here.

@1:53 with the exception of a standing start, the clutch is not necessary. All modern motorcycles are equipment with sequential transmissions. They do not contain synchros and the gears use dog engagement. You can simply "blip" the throttle or use an advanced setup that momentarily cuts the ignition and shifts with an air cylinder (pneumatic shifter) most common or an electric solenoid, not common. Shifting with the throttle and your foot is super easy to master and can be done faster than a DCT. The only logical explanation for using a DCT in a bike is either torque management or WOW factor. I'll speculate that it's a bit of both.

Darn good question as to what the leaver on the left is. Could be the rear brake. I think I heard some where that the rear brake was later relocated to the traditional spot on the right foot peg to be accepted as legal in some countries. The DCT transmission is not found on scooters. FYI Mr. DopestDope Scooters have the CVT transmission. Completely different feel and operation. No comparison.

it will engage to first when you come to a full stop. You can slot it into neutral when you're waiting at the lights and then when you accelerate it slots to first on its own. Nothing doing.

@tannerhughes6274

@@3ckstermus the engine I own right now has continual problems, and it’s a dual clutch. I just hit 150,000 miles, and the history shows the engine has been replaced with new parts 50,000 miles ago (new transmission). And this new transmission already needs to be replaced with only 50,000 miles on it. It’ll randomly go out of gear which I have to stop on the side of the road, restart my car to “fix” it, and keep going until it happens again.

i will give u an example: you cannot have a tamed t-rex dinosaur and call it fun and exciting. All that new technology counts as a cost, where an ordinary scooter achieves with less effectively though you never max out the power in daily lifestyles to really know this. And if you feel like racing with a shifting gear bike you will get owned. So its not winning either side. You just spend more to loose. Unless if you are a girl. Then this my argument is invalid
@phillipnunya6793

DopestDope It's more efficient than a V belt, and does not take much power away compared to a standard manual transmission. If you want a racing bike, look elsewhere. That's not the purpose of this bike or its transmission. It is meant to improve on a V belt, and it does. It is more durable, more reliable, and more efficient. I don't know why you think all motorcycles are supposed to be meant for racing. This motorcycle is meant to be reliable and practical.
