Very interesting and I’m glad you took the time to make this video! The Honda does have a ground lug, down low on the frame. You would have to extend the ground cable a few feet. It would be interesting to see the Honda share load with other units, and for the Genmax to share load with other units, and see what happens with load balancing. It’s most likely due to the total KW differences and and not the brand

Yea I found it now but it’s still not in a location that you can use with a parallel kit

If you put a volt meter on. Both directly my guess is the Honda is .5v-1v higher per leg. By doing that it would pull max load and voltage dip past full load. Solar inverters on your roof do this voltage bump to ensure excess flow gets used or exported from your house.

It's a voltage thing. The Honda is pushing a higher voltage, therefore assuming more load. If you could tweak the voltages, you could tweak the load sharing

Check page 19 of the EU7000is manual, there is a ground terminal on the bottom tube of the frame. The EU6500is has the same earth ground connection.

Gavin have you ever made a combining box for the larger generators? 2 30amp twist lock plugs into a single 50 amp receptacle? I understand these are considered widow maker setups but it eliminates the adapting of banana plugs and connects the grounds without issue. If so will the load balance and allow full power from each unit?
@GeneratorReviews
Жыл бұрын
Yes I haven’t made one because they’re dangerous if you forget and touch the other side while one generator is running But you’re allowed will be balanced and it works just like a parallel kit

Garvin I have a generator grounding question. I use my old generac exl 7550 watts continuous to power my mom's house do i need to ground the generator to a grounding rod?
@GeneratorReviews
2 жыл бұрын
It is not necessary because the home is already grounded and when you connect to the home inlet box the generator connects to that exact same ground.

So I guess this works pretty much with all generators? What I mean by that is different manufacturers and different sizes? If I paralleled my iGen2200 with a GenMax GM2800, do I end up with 5000 watts or do both work at the lower rating of the iGen and give me 4400 watts? Or, am I just overcomplicating things?
@GeneratorReviews
2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it over complicates things in most cases it makes sense because sometimes you’re running a small load you can just use one. So yes it would work just like you explained👍🏾 Thanks buddy

Gavin do you know if the GenMax 9000 and the GenMax 3500iAED remote control have the same frequency can one remote turn the other generator off or on? Please advice?

Genmax remotes are actually programmable there one of the only manufacturers you can program new remotes if you lost one but they will not start each other without programming it to do so

On most parallel cables, how can the wires be so small on them yet they carry so many watts? Thanks Gavin.

try adding additional 240V load to see if it gets supplied from the genmax instead of the Hunda?

@@GeneratorReviews Yes, I was curious what the Honda would do once you get over it's continuous rating. I was afraid that unequal load balancing might happen with mismatched inverters, so this confirms it...at least for Genmax. You should try the Honda with the smaller Genmax (closer in rating) and see if the same thing happens, and maybe try the Honda with the predator and another brand. Thanks for doing this!!! This was the video I have been waiting for.

Love the info you give in your videos. I was wondering if sometime you could compare a non inverter generator to an inverter one. Specifically the difference in the type of sine wave that is produced. I have a gp3300i for backup, but I also need 240 volts for my septic system. I have a gp3250 for the 240, but I'm afraid to run any other circuits due to the high THD that it has.

@@GeneratorReviews By the way, THANK YOU so much for these videos. I bought a GENMAX 6000 and can't be happier. I still can't believe something this light (compared to my old 9000 watt gen that weighted over 120lbs) can power my entire house, including 240v appliances!!
