Well you were right they should, I got a Product Advisory today from Honda extending warranty from 3 years to 10 years on my CRV for this problem.

OMG you sir are absolutely awesome! honda replaced my whole transmission on my 2020 civic in 2021 and I had to have it towed back 3 times because it was inoperable and I do t trust them! AT ALL! I’ve been recording my engine for like a year now busy trying to figure some things out and this looks EXACTLY like my engine to a T….! I questioned them about the oil everywhere after an oil change and they wiped it down and said it’s just a mess from them changing the oil and totally brushed me off….. I asked them why there was so much caked on black dust and how I could prevent them…. They brushed me off and told me not to work about it….. today I came across the warranty coverage that was sent to me and I thought hey let me just google this and came across your video…. THANK YOU for making such a clear video on what to look for…. I’m a visual learner I watch a ton of honda videos and this one was by far one of the top in my opinion! Thank you!

I have a 2016 Honda Civic that intermittently doesn't blow cold when idling. Received AC warranty extension for shaft seal leak. I took my car to dealership for inspection, was told that they needed to charge the AC first for $500 before they could do the inspection. Is this necessary??

Unfortunately, if a customer brings me a vehicle and it’s not working and it’s low on refrigerant. I have to charge it up first not only to find a potential leak which I know there is if it’s low. I have to prove that the compressor is not damaged. That’s operating properly. All the switches are operating properly for pressure and electrically. Everything is operating properly. . If you watch my videos where I do check on vehicles, the first thing I do is charge up the refrigerant system to factory specification and then do all Test. I can do quick pressure test with nitrogen, but that does not tell me that the system is functioning properly That does not tell me that the compressor is operating in full of metal flakes and seized up or making a lot of noise from mechanical damage. Looking for a leak does not tell me without charging and running the system that the expansion valve is possibly defective plugged up or stuck . Hopefully, if they do not find the leak when they’re searching that they at least put some UV dye in it so the next time it leaks out, cross your fingers that it leaves a ultraviolet UV stain that could be found with a UV light All the time can be quite difficult to locate . But intermittent when idling if you just said intermittent, I would’ve said go to the clutch relay if it had one. Some compressors are clutchless There’s also the compressor control valve that also sometimes can do intermittent problem , Electrical can cause intermittent problem .

Hi, what's wrong with the evaporator? Just had to have mine replaced (as well as fix a leak on the compressor seal) and was wondering if the leak on the compressor seal had also created the issue that lead to having the evaporator replaced.

My compressor has a rattle noise and its been like that since i bought it used years ago. Ive added yf freon and pag oil and it still rattles on and off. No bearing play and it engages fine. Should i just leave it as-is and keep topping off freon? I doubt honda would cover my condenser since it has plenty of rock chips and a dent but the shaft seal has been leaking slowly

If it’s been rattling all these years and you’ve been topping it off and it’s still surviving. When the compressor finally dies Then you can get everything replaced start over from brand new New hoses new expansion valve, new compressor new condenser . And they either flush out the evaporator or replace the evaporator . That’s your choice.. And then you won’t have a rattle no more . You may want to check that little sticker under the hood can’t remember if all the Hondas of the later model Mike says it takes POE oil . But too late now, it makes noise so drive it till it dies

Hi Tom, why does a dye injection won't show when compressor shaft leak? Regards
@coldfinger459sub0
Жыл бұрын
Because it needs to be leaking oil. Sometimes there are leaks that only leak refrigerant The dud only travels with the oil Not carrying with refrigerant. There are rare times that only refrigerant leaks with no oil .

3M shrink tubing. Underneath I have dielectric grease apply first.. I have a video on the procedures and what I used. You apply first a very heavy, thick coat of silicone grease , also known as dielectric grease. Or more commonly known to a Automotive Mechanics as spark, plug boot grease. When the shrink tubing is flipped over because it’s much larger before you apply heat to it and shrink it over the hose.

Would a compressor shaft seal that has failed damage a compressor to the point that it causes the vehicle to stall?
@coldfinger459sub0
Жыл бұрын
No, a shaft seal will not cause a stall What a pulley bearing when the clutch engages can install a small week vehicle. I have seen that. Or a Bound up seized up compressor . When the clutch engages, the compressor does not spin if the motor is weak instead of slipping the clutch face, I have seen some poorly tuned or weak car stall when trying to engage locked up compressors . Not common, but it does happen . The shaft seal is just a little bit of rubber .

Supposedly after 2019 they corrected this problem But they also had a problem with leaky compressors and Leaking Evaporators And if you were among some of them, few individuals who were denied warranty in the beginning and you had to pay that $1400-$2000 to have your condenser replaced, depending where you are located in labor rates in the United States And then six months later on the next summer, your compressor started leaking which was no longer under warranty so you had to pay another $2000 out of pocket and Honda has a really big problem with air compressors Leaking And then the year after that your evaporator started to leak so you’re out of pocket another $2000 that Honda denies they have a problem with and is making their customers pay to replace the evaporator and by this time you literally have spent half the value of your vehicle in repairs just on the air conditioning of what the remaining bluebook value of your car. Pretty sickening .
