I had a MiniTrail *identical* to that one in my formative years. It was my first bike and part of the reason why I love Hondas. The campaign at the time was "From mighty to mini -- Honda has it all." I gradually leveled-up to an XL350R, and Pacific Coast 800, and my current bike, the Valkyrie 1520.

Those 50cc Monkeys were quite common in Finland back in the 70's, 80's and 90's, as you could ride them without a license when you turned 15. The frame was even smaller though, as there was a maximum weight limit on mopeds and the engine was quite heavy.

I had the original 50cc Honda mini trail bike while still living in the Philippines in the mid 70s. It was duly licensed and I rode it around the city and also did mild off road adventures. Even with its small tires, I had a lot of fun crossing shallow mountain streams. Best fun years of my life.

Really cool comparison. I purchased a trail 125 and love it. Really wanted my girl to get into riding bikes. I noticed my neighbor was a bike collector looking to downsize his collection. He ended up selling us a clone of the old mini trail for pretty much nothing. Great for getting my girl comfortable on two wheels 👍

My parents bought a Monkey during the early 70s petrol crisis (UK). I played with it in the garden and later when I had my provisional licence rode it stoned and drunk around town with my girlfriend on the back. Amazing bike.

Neat little mini bike. $2200 neat? My goodness. I would like to see how it runs. Take it to tumbleweed. You have enough room there to open it up.

Romanticism and nostalgia rode onto a song and dance a petite nibbling sensation as a smidgen emittance the stack rose. Me of humble beginnings nor my family could ever obtain such extravagant pleasures as ever today. I am looking and find wealthy owners the Joneses and such indeed do have. Why this disparity? Why not do we not have these things? I think some have they opportunity too experience and learn of value in these pleasures. I can only romance the very thought. ✌️♥️👍

FYI The supreme court has ruled... Any American 14 yrs old and older can drive almost anything they want on any public road they want. No Plates, tabs, registration, driver's license or insurance required. Unless engaged in commerce. Traffic law's apply to vehicles engaged in commerce only. Federal law is all that is needed but, you may find it right in your states law's as well. Law enforcement has no right to identify you or your private property while traveling. You can also hide your VIN number. You do not have the right to endanger your fellow Americans or damage public property. Other than that... have fun. Police cannot stop you or charge you with a crime for watching people race etc. You can stop on the side of any road any time you want. Cheers
