“Water always flows from the highs to the lows.” And then the explanation that some kids think water flows from north to south. Katriel.... that’s so awesome. Where I live the rivers flow from north to south so that has been my perspective. Recently I bought 75 wooded acres. There is a nice stream that runs south to north! Until I saw this video (I just bot a Ridgeline) I have marveled that my stream flows south to north. Now I knows that water flows from highs to lows.

Nice job Tim an you had plenty of help! Do you know about the new master lock not sure how long it has been in production but it's made for keeping people honest. It's a tail gate lock that fits around the pin on tail gate where it can be removed and stolen. They can be purchased on Amazon for about $16. Even if tail gate has a keyed lock which can be drilled out the tail gate cannot be stolen with this lock

Having a cover for the bed is always nice. A normal four door, full size pickup is too long for my garage. That's why I bought a Chevy Avalanche. Four doors, will carry a full sheet of plywood with the tailgate closed, and fits in the garage with inches to spare. Of course they don't make them anymore which is why my 2013 is going to have to last me a long time.

Question about the trunk door of the Honda Ridgeline. Does the cargo lights still shine down in the trunk with the cover in closed position? Does it allow enough access into the trunk to place groceries with the cover in closed position? How difficult is it to pop the cover open and closed? (Female asking) I use the trunk 100% of the time and didn’t want to pop the cover open every time. Thank you (I guess there is a reason we can’t find a video with someone opening the trunk of the Ridgeline with covers closed )
@TractorTimewithTim
6 жыл бұрын
Kit, All good questions. I think I can help with these questions. Let me start with the 'order of operations' for opening the rear. First, we open the tailgate 'top/down'. I find this easiest for the next step, but you can open the tailgate right to left with the cover on. The problem is that you can't easily close the tailgate with the cover down and attached. So, each time before we prepare to close the tailgate, we must unlatch the cover, releasing the tension. We don't roll it back much (if at all, but we do unlatch it). My wife finds that step one above is difficult. She is 5'3" or so, and has trouble pulling the tailgate down when the cover is tight. I can open it with no problem. Then, the latches are controlled by 'strings/ropes' under the top of the cover. Pulling these ropes downward pulls the latches in from the left and right sides. This frees the cover to move upward out of its restraints. Again, my wife finds releasing these latches somewhat difficult. Perhaps I need to apply some WD40 in there somewhere to make it easier??? Perhaps I WOULD if I really loved her (just joking). Check out more of our channel videos to see our truly special relationship in action. Anyway, the cover must be unlatched to close the tailgate anyway, so some of your questions above become irrelevant. You don't have to 'roll-up' the cover, just unlatch it. Once you have the cover unlatched, you can easily open the trunk 'most' of the way. I say 'most' of the way because the trunk lid hits the rails of the cover before it gets all the way open. It DOES open far enough for the cargo lights to shine into the trunk cavity. I'll ask my wife to take a look at this comment. If she has more comments/advice, she will add it. Does that answer your questions?
@TractorTimewithTim
6 жыл бұрын
This is Christy. I drive the Ridgeline a lot of the time. I do not use the trunk for groceries. I just put them in the back seats area with the seat folded up. It would be a pain to unroll the cover far enough to open the trunk and put the groceries in and then close it back up again. As Tim said I have trouble getting the cover unlatched and latched. I think I am a little short and maybe weak! We use the trunk mostly when we travel. It is really nice to have. I do love the Ridgeline!

I wanted to provide a bit of a 'review' near the end of the video. However, it was running so long that I decided to skip that. Yes, it sounds like a bass drum if the truck bed is empty. We keep it 'rolled up' unless we need it. If the bed is full of stuff, then it doesn't sound bad at all. So, it was fine on our trip. We just can't leave it covered all of the time. Overall, a decent compromise.
