I rented the Honda X-ADV 750 after riding the Honda ADV 150 for several weeks. This is my first encounter with this machine so I share my first impression and experience after riding for a day in Thailand. I also make some comparisons between the X-ADV 750 vs. the ADV 150.
The low and mid-range power is excellent, combined with the awesome sound makes you feel BA when riding the X-ADV. This "Franken-scooter" is right between scooter and motorcycle. There is nothing like it on the road. It's weird, it's cool, and it's fun with comfort. The electronic over hydraulic 6-speed DCT flawlessly shifts through the gears automatically with no effort from the rider. This is a game-changer and I believe this is the future.
The X ADV 750 rides like a motorcycle but the seating position is that of a large comfortable scooter. All the good from both worlds with only a few sacrifices. Storage space is lost to the big 750 twin but a rear bolt-on storage compartment can be added. With over double the horsepower, fuel mileage pales in comparison to the ADV 150, which is expected.
Riding the Honda X-ADV 750 in and around Pattaya, Thailand was a joy. Although not as refined as the ADV 150 it's still a lot of fun and worth renting. However, I wouldn't buy one yet. It's far from perfect and I'm sure Honda will make this awesome in the next model are so.
