good video thank you . I ride a 2005 Varadero 1000 I have a Transalp 600 too . I wanted to change my long distance touring bike the new bike needed to be able to carry a passenger handle rough country back roads be reliable maintain it myself easily good fuel economy comfortable riding position and basically be a 1000cc Transalp and I am more than pleased with this bike . WARNING it is very top heavy I am 5 ' 10" and reasonably strong and to be honest I find it a bit of a handful backing it into the shed be very careful where you park never park it facing downhill into a kerb . I have a 32 " leg its ok with paratrooper boots but with less flexible moto cross boots I am on tip toes . if you are a bit shorter of a weedy build or getting on in age and not as strong as you were it might be a bit too much for you I will keep mine as long as I can I love it but I know as I get older it will be too much and have to be replaced by a lighter bike probably a Suzuki v strom 650 as much as I love Honda I understand the v strom is a better bike than a Transalp 650 . safe riding chaps and remember most accidents happen while overtaking other vehicles . keep the pace down give yourself more of a chance .

+Bob Marley Its not overly brilliant off-road and stony tracks or mud are a pretty bum-twitching experience. Seems to handle dirt though as long as its dry! yeah I am quite short, 5' 7" but have super short legs. At first it was a pretty daunting bike but have got used to it now and have my own little techniques for moving and mounting :) My main critique is the handle bars are quite vibe-y, although i do have a set of really hard heated grips. A nice soft set of grips are a must I think. Other than that its a great bike! thanks for the comment :)

hi Sasha I am not sure did you say spastic back as in someone with cerebral palsy or nerve damage from a brain injury or stroke causing muscle cramps or something ? I don't fully understand the condition so I cant really say the Varadero and Transalp both have quite a high seat height and mounting is not so easy they both give a smooth ride even over rougher terrain over all the vara is more comfortable as in more room and less cramped and more padded seat . with the abs the brakes are much stronger . I have a bad lower back myself and I find both bikes comfortable its never an issue also my knees don't like a cramped race like stance so sports bike's even the first Honda ntv 650 causes pain after maybe 3 hours neither the trans or vara bothers my legs the bars are just right too I never get any arm or shoulder pain and I have put in very long days on both . a couple of more bikes you could look at are Yamaha xtz 750 and tdm 850/900 the Suzuki v strom 650/1000 are highly regarded too . if money was no object I would like to test ride both a Honda crosstourer 1000 v4 and the Yamaha xtz1200 to see what I prefer it might even be the varadero 1000 I have no complaints at all with mine . I am looking forward to bringing it out of hibernation .

same her 5ft10 and 32 inch inseam and over 50 now. you make me think the better choice is a v strom 650, or even a gladius 650. I would also agree better than a transalp

Good video thanks a lot. Do you know if is there a way to mount a fuel gauge of some sort, something to be able to see how much fuel you have in tank?

Hello. Is this a good travel motorcycle with passenger and bags? What bout city driving,with no luggage? Is it manageable in traffic, can you squeze throguh cars? I am 6.5 feet or 2 meters tall, is it a good fit for my long legs? Thanks.

Well, I'm 5' 7" with a very short leg 27" inseam. I managed it fine, had to shift arse off side of seat and use one leg at a stop sometimes, especially on a road with a slope but I'm used to riding tall bikes so for me although technically it was too tall for me it was perfectly manageable. For taller people I see no issues, although being 6.5' tall I can't really comment as that's pretty tall! Would suggest trying one. As for rideability, once moving at any speed the bike is very agile. used to throw it around like a much lighter/smaller bike and filtering is fine although have to be mindful with paniers! Used to be surprised how easy it was to ride slowly. I never had a passenger on mine so can't really say but again, no reason I should see an issue. I personally did used to get knee ache but think that was due to being a bit short for the bike, but I only ever suffered this on longer journeys (100 miles and over). Definitely give one a try, they are great bikes

I was going to say was how many miles can you get out of the XL ??
@richardfld

+davidhonda750 Not sure. I've had 160 on a tank without the fuel light coming on (motorway riding) so expect it to be around 200 maybe, maybe a bit less?

+Dave.Honda750 250 miles is very little on the EFI model. I can hit 400km (Once i reach the petrol station). Thats so far the furthest I went. Not sure how much more it can go. Mine is the latest version, EFI ABS. Maybe about 423km max (Very good already). Even though the specs says 25L max, whenever i Refill, I always exceed 25L. LOL! Btw I can barely hear your muffled voice in this "review". Definitely muffled voice. Had 0% idea what you were talking. Either put in subtitles or add in voice by yourself.

+Dave.Honda750 I can barely figure out the muffled voice due to the helmet blocking.. sorry about that. I just reached 375.8km and the Reserve Petrol light just turned on. Pretty happy with the mileage so far, getting better and better. :)

+davidhonda750 No worries. Be aware that there are differences between the early (pre-2003/4) varaderos and the newer ones.

+richardfld I think it could be where the early early ones have carbs and the new ones have ejection and the new ones have a centre stand and the old ones don't but to my knowledge I think they are basically the same bike apart from a couple little bits. but it might be more apart from I'm not too sure couldn't really sleep and end up watching 5 hours of XL on KZitem lol

+Kennie Pan older ones were carbs, newer from 03/04 have injection, better torque and fuel consumption, 6'th gear and different instrument cluster. Other than that I don't really know.

@@richardfld In New Zealand, I get the warning countdown and light stating 60km to go after 360-odd km, and I have managed to get 430km out of a full tank. I filled up, very relieved, with 24.5 litres, when the capacity is 25 litres.

Is this suitable for skinny midget cunts like me? Or will feel like im riding a fridge with wheels 😂 talking about flexibility in traffic and momentum feeling if it feels heavy in lower rpms
@richardfld
7 жыл бұрын
sector 1000 hey. It's actually not so bad at low rpms if you've handled big bikes before but I would say that leg length is the main factor. I'm about a 28 - 30 leg and about 5'7"ish and I'm just able to get tip toes down or one foot if I shift my arse over a bit. Main issue it's if you're on a camber or loose ground.. Short legs don't mix If you have similar or longer legs then you'll be fine as I have fat thighs which effectively make my leg length shorter when on the bike. But yeah otherwise low speed maneuverability isn't too bad with a bit of practice and good tyres :)

Glad I made the move to the varadero tbh. Sport bikes kill my wrists and back unfortunately :( Loved my VTR1000 to bits but just couldn't deal with the agony on long rides any longer. Have to admit though, I am looking at either a Yamaha FJR1300 or a Triumph Tiger at the moment. But I don't know if I am quite ready to give up my love of a V-twin just yet :)

richardfld man fuck it all and get a 2008+ busa she purrrs like kitten if you dont mess with her gearing and ecu and wrists never hurt me in stock form personally on that big bird. With some hellibars on it i can imagine she would be able to enjoy every long distance ride. Plus parts are more and cheaper than yamaha and triumph. Just dont take her off roads😂... But is a suzuki i mean she could go if being a little higher hahaha. I have an rsv4 factory and a busa 2010 was looking for a more touring bike i was almost ready to bring home last month a varadero but despite being a beautiful bike i thought mmeeh not really me

I like the words 'confidence-inspiring', as that is how I felt after taking a few corners on some twisty roads here in New Zealand. It seemed to handle them very well, and my initial fears about a bigger and heavier bike disappeared as I went around some curves.
