This video is dedicated to all my uni students out there! Academics can be tough. The stress of it all almost detaches you from why you first chose your subject, or why learning is meant to be fun. This video is a real-talk glimpse of the side we romanticise less. Enjoy! And, if you're stressed about academic workload right now, you've got this. You're doing enough. Don't deviate from the priority systems in your life which make you your best self: mental health, physical health, loved ones, self love. Go smash it!! 🦋

If your uni syllabus conssitently requires more than 8hrs/day and 40hrs/week of work from you, it is too much. Unfortunately, all uni courses do.

As someone who graduated from Cambridge in 2020 and now has a job: this is a toxic environment. When university work makes it impossible to take time off to relax there is a problem. I was so chronically stressed at Cambridge - because it's set up to make even top students stressed and I have hearing loss so listening so intently all the time really took it out of me. And even though I took the whole summer off I didn't feel fully recharged when I started my new job in OCTOBER. But honestly working 9-5 rather than constantly is a revelation - I still need therapy to properly process what uni did to me but at least i have evenings and weekends to myself. Please please talk to your uni about this ridiculous workload. If you're struggling, it must be impossible for disabled students like me who are expected to throw ourselves under the bus for a degree!

The point is with contact studies, I never felt this overwhelmed because I could channel that emotion into sports and other extra curriculars... But at home ... Well, well, well... Helping others makes us feel good about ourselves and happy to be able to make someone else happy. 6. Smile and give or get a hug. Just smile. A small smile can turn into a bigger smile. Germany's dealt with COVID much better than America and the UK however I think but not sure in europe the cases are definitely rising but obviously each country is dealing with it differently so there must be different rules etc :)

It is. We‘re not on a lockdown as strict as lots of countries nearby, but we‘re hitting a new record of cases per day everyday right now. Wearing masks outside is a very new concept in germany though and probably wasn‘t mandatory anywhere yet when the video was filmed.

Jade alwayss comes through, since uni went online ours assignments and tests have doubled and so I've not been getting much time to myself but I've been actively trying to take out 5-10 mins to be in the moment and take time for my own self! To everyone struggling with the semester or a particular subject, we've got this💪

@@samousamou3584 Omg absolutely!! Here are a few things that have been helping me: -yoga with adrienne 12 minute wind down -the honest guys mindfulness meditation -just lying on bed listening to nature sounds and pondering how my week was and what I want to change and take small steps in the next week. Eg. I realized that I wasn't doing the preparations for labs and it made me anxious not knowing what to do during the labs so I've been making sure I read the problem statement and search up about the topic so I'm less nervous during the labs - a cup of chamomile with a book during the sunset, I just try to plan my study sesh so I get a break around about sunset so I can really just take time with myself - working out has be the best thing for my mental health, I try to workout whenever I have less workload! Chloe ting has some great 10 mins videos and they're beginner friendly and doing them consistently genuinely made the lockdown period more bearable If you have some other tips that help you do share:)) hope this helps xx

One thing I don't quite understand is, are you actually attending classes at a Berlin university? If not I don't get why you're in Germany when you could study at your home uni.

no she is studying at minerva. not at any other uni. the idea about minerva is that you learn something from traveling and from every new city. thats why they arent at home

What @@000AnnA000D said! Also, they do internships in the cities they live in so they'd have to travel for that anyway.

I feel like Jade is trying to hard to justify her uni by always saying how the work load is hard. But it’s really not, she’s technically just doing a-levels/btecs online instead of a classroom environment. It’s similar to a-levels/btecs as she has assignments due instead of exams which is basically what btecs are apart from btecs have exams now. Her degree is pointless as she’s following the American system. That’s why she try’s so hard to show off her uni and always complain about the workload in order to justify that her uni is actually in a position to be considered a university. I feel sorry for her, I hope she can feel comfortable enough with her degree to not have to justify it. She seems passionate about business and entrepreneurship, thus she should’ve just done a business degree instead of an online “uni” . It’s a not a uni in my opinion since she’s just doing a-level equivalent assignments instead of going in depth in one subject/field which is what a uni should be.

I love how even in the most stressful times with such a workload you manage to continue being positive and remember that you are doing it for the love of learning and not just for the grades or to get it done. I sometimes struggle with remembering to thrive to learn and see the beauty in what I'm learning when the stress levels are high so thank you for this video ❤( btw I would really appreciate if you did a video specifically on that topic) The atmosphere in the video (despite the stress) is magical and your friends are truly amazing. Gonna go give some appreciation to the people helping me through stressful times, thanks for reminding me to do that!

It’s weird how different universities function so differently.. I study Biomedical Sciences at UCL and we barely have any assignments: our grades are 80-100% based on the final exam and we might have 1 big coursework essay or online quizzes to make up for the rest 🤯 Might be less stressful throughout the year but it puts a lot of pressure at the end.. I think I would prefer something between the two 🤔

comparing my and my friends' experiences, the first year (especially first semester) is the hardest, because it's meant to determine whether you're willing to work hard towards getting a degree and whether you're actually That interested in whatever you're studying so it's normal that you're feeling this way 💕 it gets easier later. and if you decide to quit then it's still good to realize that certain things aren't meant for you. anyway, good luck !!

I watched this after turning in my midterm paper four days late. My mental health got really bad around the time it was due and i just couldn’t do it. It took so much little sessions just to do the research before the paper and I almost gave up, but i did it! i turned it in. essentially i shouldn’t get any points because it’s late, but i don’t care. i turned it in and for that i’m proud of myself. starting college in a pandemic is hard but this community is strong. we can do this. we can conquer this. we can listen to our heart and understand when we need breaks.
