That was a fun trip!!! Thanks for taking us along! I have questions: 1. Do you wear your camera on your head as you search? Or do you have your phone/camera in your right hand? 2. How does your back handle all this shelling? Do you wear knee pads and kneel on the ground? Are you just always hunched over? Do you sit in one spot and just shell around yourself and then pick another spot to sit? Just walking on the beach hurts my back! LOL

Sponges where they sell watercolor paints. Is a baby's ear single like an abalone ? Or is it a bivalve ? Anyone ? I thought it has a thick rim (Hence the name)& no hinges. We went to Honeymoon Island and took the ferry to Caladesi Island yesterday (Sunday 3/12). This was the second time we have done that in about a month. On the ferry, we met the Mate and found out he was from the town I was born in (Meriden, CT). Small world. After viewing your video we decided to go back tomorrow and look around Honeymoon Island for the first time. On Caladesi we found a great many dead fish due to Red Tide but also found a lot of shells- long spined star shells which my husband refer to as UFOs, turbines, a few sea stars, and even a banded tulip which I know are not rare however despite all the shelling we do, we have found only one in the wild previous to yesterday. 150 miles is a long way to drive -so glad it was worth it for you!

I had told my son that it looks like an ear. And of course it was the "baby's ear". I found it on a beach in SC. The beach there was pretty barren of shells but after a weather event and at the right time you can find them. Thank you.

I was 10 and now I'm past 60, so that was a long time ago. I wish we were neighbors so I could share. I have fox shells. They look alot like a horse conch in shape. I discovered Babylonias a few years back. I had never seen them before, so that was exciting. I read that the men who fish for them in the Philippines also eat them for lunch. Ugh !. Don't know if you like shells from the store or not. That's how I have to do.

Oh, I am so glad you finally got to go to Honeymoon Island!!! I absolutely loved it there. I unfortunately got there a little late in the afternoon because it was bad weather early in the day but I still found so many incredible shells. Tons of those chestnut turbans and the operculums to those. A lady told me that they were called “mermaid money” and then later in the day I got to give some chestnut turbans and mermaid money to some other vacation shellers who didn’t know what they were and were absolutely fascinated by them. Those two different shellers had no idea about what to even look for or what the shells in the area were to look for them, so I was really excited to share my knowledge and help them find some shells that were a little nicer than what they had found before which was mostly broken and worn stuff. I saw one of them later and she was absolutely tickled to show me her full shell bag. 😊Oh I just want to go back to Florida so much!!! I’m already planning to take a friend to Honeymoon Island when she and I both get some time and money to go. We want to go find some manatees also, so we have been looking into doing some manatee kayak tours. Honeymoon Island was definitely one of my favorite places that I visited, though. I loved how uncrowded it was and how natural and wild and beautiful it was. Plus it was hot when I was there and it was absolutely marvelous to take a little swim every little while to cool off between shelling and I sat in the tide pool by the jetty and found minis galore while staying cool and getting some shade from the jetty. I loved the green star shells, too, though most of the ones I found were in pretty rough shape. They were still super cool. I’m just so excited that you went and that you are sharing with your viewers because it’s just a fantastic place. And only $8 to go. What a bargain!!!

Ha. I am glad I am not alone. When I get the opportunity to vacation in NC the Giant Atlantic Cockles, baby’s ears and very large Shark eye/ moon snails are plentiful along with very large lightning and knobbed whelks, and olives. I have finally started finding intact bonnets(that took me 3 years to accomplish) However, when my Daughter lived in Texas, we drove over to a beach in Louisiana where there were so many small shark eye/moon snails that I literally brought home 168. They were so cute and so pretty, I couldn’t help myself. It is also where I found 2 juvenile Florida Fighting conchs and some nutmegs, and rock snail shells that are so pretty! I do not find many Florida Fighting Conchs or sand Dollars when I come to the Gulf Coast in Fl. I am always excited when you show so many. I would be picking up turbines like I was never going to see them again. So cute and pretty😀

Hi Sharmon, You were in Chestnut Turbin heaven😅. Never seen so many of them before. How many did you eventually take off the island? I really love those Long Spined Star shells.😍 Of course I did Google them to see all the spines on the shells. They are stunning! With or without spines. Can't wait to see the rest of your adventure. Wish you have a wonderful week filled with joy and blessings. Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤️, Ilona

Hi Ilona! I didn't count how many, but let's just say I was shelling like I was never going to see a chestnut turban again 🤣 It was so fun to see a new beach and see different treasures. Especially when you know what you're looking for and you just have to find it. I've learned how to train my brain! And the drive wasn't all that bad. I'd love to spend more time up there to really explore the area. I hope you have a wonderful week full of happiness and love ❤️❤️❤️

I love Baby Ear!!! Aren’t they the most smooth shell? I’ve only seen them on you videos but they look so smooth.☺️ Love the new 26:45 shell, the long-spined star shell is so beautiful!! When you first picked it up I thought, ok that’s the top and I expected and longer bottom to it and then you turned it over and I was surprised how it looked. It’s such a beauty!! I know I’d be grabbing as many shells as you, that was incredible how many varieties there were!! What a great spot!! Is it good for finding sharks teeth? I heard as you go up north there’s more of them there.🤷♀️ Well, what an exciting beach walk!! I was just as excited because when your camera spotted the long-spined star shell, I smacked my mouth with my hand!!🫢 Love shells!!😂 Thanks again, it was great!! Have a great week and we’ll see you next Sunday!!☺️🐬

I don't think the shark's teeth are that plentiful, but the shells sure do make up for it!!

* LOL ~ The Barnacles on some of the shells look like Eyes looking back. So Fun.. at 8:25 mark, it looked like a Gaudy Nautica (sp?) on the right side of the screen.. There was a Drill also & you passed right by it.. You showed great restraint in not stopping & filling your backpack with some of those. Thanks for taking us with you.

Is Honeymoon Island near Clearwater? I think it's the same island that my daughter, her gf, and I shelled at in the mid 90s. And that's another episode..lol .. spring breaking w/your kids...lol

What an exciting adventure as always. Huge baby's ear. Awesome true tulip. Great long spined star shells. Do you know why Honeymoon consistency has so many chestnut turbans? Seems unusual to me. Great fun, thanks, from snowy Toronto.

I suspect there is a rather large chestnut turban colony offshore which keeps the supply of turbans coming!
