Cool video I used to have one of these when I was a kid but I ruined it by running the bearings dry - then it would only work if I left a pool of oil in front of the front bearing with some strategic tape. Good ass fan I wish I was smarter back then haha

Nice experiment, I too thought the more vintage wide style blade would work the best. It’s odd why they phased it out in favor of the blade that’s on it now. White noise?

I'd guess it's some kind of marketing gimmick, or perhaps that blade has much less drag so they could use a weaker motor to save a few pennies per unit.

The newer blades have less plastic overall, therefore making it much cheaper to make, its sad only a few fans now have the old wider blades, some lasko fans like the 16 inch has this old style wide blade
