Hoodoo Meadows is an old airport that was last reportedly used in 1985. It was recently brought back to life through efforts of the IAA (Idaho Aviation Association), RAF (Recreational Aviation Foundation), Idaho Fish and Game, and the Idaho Transportation Department. The strip enables access to the Yellowjacket Mountains.
It sits at an elevation of nearly 8300 feet and is only 2200 feet in length. I could not find the numbers on the slope of the strip but it seems steep possibly a 4 % uphill grade. Density altitude is a significant issue operating out of this strip. Hence my early arrival and departure. Always be ready for wildlife and big game on the runway. At the end of the video a couple of young deer ran in front of the airplane.
