I can recall being 5 years old going to work with my dad, Bill and Doug were probably younger then 20 I would estimate, I think their father was Bill also.

I also seem to remember their first pump being a Thomsen on GM tandem probably like 75 ft.

This is amazing! Yes, Bill is my father and Doug my uncle. Jin was my grandfather. Their first boom pump was in the 1970’s and was I believe a Thomsen 845. I spent many summers in the mid to late 1980’s tagging along with the placing crew and watching Kevin Allen operate the Thomsen 875 and Thomsen/Putz 28M of the time. Great memories! 😁😁😁

Thanks man, I appreciate that. I was super happy with how this pour turned out. The way the driveway previously looked, I’d been losing sleep over the day when we’d have to get a boom pump in/out of here. The contractor did an amazing job of prepping this site to accommodate us. I wish more job sites were run like this one.

31-m 5 is a gravy pump to have in situations like that, as you mentioned for pumps to replace with 24. Can swing the boom to the front of the cab and unfold flat out in spots like that 🤘🏼 awesome video brother
@canadianconcretepumper1979

My only gripe with the Putz 31-5 is that is uses full-sized swing out rear legs. For what we do, I really would like to have either drop/angle down, or short/stubby rear legs. Boom configuration with the 31-5 Putz is absolutely lights out however! 👌👌👌

And what does that sugar do?
@canadianconcretepumper1979
Жыл бұрын
The sugar stops the chemical reaction which allows concrete to set. We put sugar in the hopper at the end of the job so that it doesn’t harden in the pump while travelling to the washout area.

28m Putz, or 31 Schwing. I think you already know what I have to say about off brand. That 24m is pretty sweet, perhaps just add a new 28m or 31m lo-pro Putz, take the work load off her and extend her life

I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! That new Putz 28Z. Your probably right, especially considering this old 24Z would fetch maybe only $125K on her best day. Better off keeping it as a 3rd line-pump/backup high rise pump.

Use a drill with a small paddle mixer
@canadianconcretepumper1979
Жыл бұрын
We used to carry them on the pumps, but guys would just toss them back into the tool cabinets without rinsing, which would eventually lead to one gigantic mess. With the crew we’ve got now (all clean/conscientious operators), it may be time to revisit the paddle mixer option for sure 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Yes, the high-pressure discharge outlet has a more drastic reduction which is definitely not as friendly to hard mixes. Fortunately we have pretty nice materials around here, so it’s never been an issue for us, but I could definitely see it being a concern in regions where the mixes aren’t so pump friendly.

stop kidding yourself and get a 31 XT schwing. I used to have one would have another one tomorrow. same footprint as a 28 when folded up. it will pump dirt and quickly as well.

I know right? We had one on order but had to bail last minute (lack of operators). I would have said 31XT hands down, but after climbing all over the new Putz 28Z at this years WOC in Vegas, it’s a MUCH tougher (hypothetical) decision between the two.

@@canadianconcretepumper1979 we have some of the new Putz 28 in my company. it's weird watching them set up no legs out boom up but you can only do 10 meters I do believe with no legs out. and with all the sensors is the operator really in control or is he just a stick operator. as for the lack of operators we are struggling in the UK as well so unfortunately I can't operate it for you or I'll be there in two years lol
