I'm really tempted by the Hermes. Looks so good. But the price is still too high for me, and I'd be concerned about getting the movement serviced.

If we’re talking about the H08, I believe it still has some ways to go down! In that particular case, since I’ve never had a personal experience with the servicing of Vaucher movement, I’m not going to simply say that “any watchmaker worthy of the name should be able to take care of it.” I will say, however, that Hermés is a serious company and they had Vaucher make the H1837 for them as a reliable, robust, and modular movement on which they are technically building their entire men’s line. H1837 powers not only a number of time-only pieces in their catalogue (including the H08), but also their complications such as the H08 monopusher chronograph and their “world time” Le Temps Voyageur among others. I’d like to think that makes it reliable enough for you as a wearer and simple enough as a tractor movement for a good watchmaker to work on.
